Rank the cheese builds for ob
I've tried to dabble into melee, just couldn't do it.. doesn't appeal to me in the least, at least not like my D2 Werewolf did (Don't remember the skill I used.. Frenzy? Something Rage? Fury? Something like that.. it attacked multiple enemies simultaneously...) That was the /only/ melee toon I've really enjoyed playing. Even when playing barbar, I tried to build with War Cry instead of straight up melee damage.
Still from what experience I have, I have a feeling that GS/LS mara is still a top build, just not the popular flavor of the month anymore. The players who argued about how "op" GS Mara is have all leveled off their toons and moved on to something else.. now people are arguing about totems, etc.. Given time, totems will be like GS Mara and fade into the dark. The only thing really "cheese" (according to your definition) right now is summoners. They have no individuality, there's only really two or three ways to build them and they mostly all look the same. Notice how Rangers, Duelists, and Shadows (the Dexterity classes) don't make the list for most popular builds come OB.

Huge and I are currently working on a better version of GS build which imo will be better than current version, especially with how easy it is to gear. I will be running with my spark totem,spark and minions build. I will be stacking rarity and quantity while crafting my way to the top. I will play 10 hours straight maybe more the first second Open beta hits :P it will be hard to get the two 4 links i am sure.
Hopefully i can get a ton of chromatics along the way. |

Some builds are fun right up until the moment they aren't. My favorite build at low levels is by far the grenade tossing assault rifle wielding.... errr fire trap using, dual wand wielding, shadow build.
Huge fun, runs into serious problems past Act2 normal. Almost certainly completely non-viable for end game. I wish there was a cheese build I could stand to play. Pet classes bore me to tears so anything with heavy totem/minion reliance is out. |

Well unless we have the patch notes, it's a bit pointless. I don't see anyone talking about chain LA builds, is that because we know LA and chain are both getting nerfed? But we don't know what else is getting nerfed though. What about GR CI LS shadows, they looked pretty OP to me, too gear dependant?
What I hope for summoners is more passives, more skills. I don't mind if the base state is nerfed to compensate, I think the biggest issue with summoner at the moment is the fact you finish the summoner build with about 45points as a witch, so you can literally do half a build with the rest of your points letting you kinda double up your power. You have all the summoner stuff for only 45points, which involve 8super tanky zombies that also do very good dmg, 11 skeletons that are fairly tanky, do ok dmg and can be summoned all over the place to block spells and with all these you can discard most defenses plus you can get the OP CI to even further reinforce this. While I like the versatility, I think that's a large part of what makes summoners OP. Once you get rolling it's basically a semi passive army following you and protecting you from everything while killing stuff at a decent pace, and you're entirely free to further improve your own damage, utility(curses/auras) or efficiency(movespeed, looting stuff while the fight isn't over yet, skipping stuff or balling groups for efficient aoe etc). I'd much rather have to spend 60points on summon related passives, assuming there would be a couple more interesting keystones and use more summon related skills(new minions, minion temporary buff, targetting debuffs, minion enhanced nukes etc) instead of getting multiple nukes for different situations+curses+auras and doing everything at once. |

I suspect CI will be changing in 0.10.1, but I'm not sure really. A lot of stuff is happening in 0.10.0, so we'll need lots of beta-based feedback before Qarl is comfortable with changing it significantly, I think. Or changing it at all. The same goes with totems (which I'm not sure need changing, well, spell totem anyway, decoy totem is obviously in need of a little tweaking, as is shockwave/rejuve)
Diamond Flasks, CI and totems are all entwined. If you nerf one, you're probably nerfing the other. So, I think we will want to pick one of these things first, then adjust it accordingly in 0.10.1, then evaluate the other two and see how they fair when the third's influence on the issue has been reduced. It's just boring compared to all the other classes. We have what? Cleave? We've had cleave for over a year, while all the other classes receive new, *badass* skills. |
