Auras stacking overpowered/need balancing?

Auras generally give you peanuts in terms of dps/survival, compared to the cost of having them (huge chunk of mana). That's my opinion, of course. An exception to this is discipline + CI, which is generally uber, and Grace, but only if you have below 45% dodge before Grace. Otherwise, the little bits of dodge you get is not efficient use of your mana.

I believe if you don't use auras, you'll never ever have to invest into max mana passives, and probably require only 1 mana pot, as long as you have some bits of mana regen or mana leech from gear.

Imagine not having to build around resource management ! Inconceivable. I may have to force myself to not use auras, and see what happens... so many free passive points suddenly... No need to hunt for reduced mana ! More free slots on my gear from not having aura gems, omg I can save fuses/chromes/jorbs...

Anyways, auras exist and nothing stops us from using them. Noobs stack on auras and wonder why they have mana problems, veterans build around auras and become uber....

The fact is, by definition they should be for group play, but they're so cool and sometimes just so good that we use them all the time...

My character DefaultAttack, uses nothing but auras, and has progessed rather easily through the content so far O.o

Cheers.

GGG - Why you no?
Maybe Eldritch Battery could do with a little nerf to make it a little harder to run 4, 5, or 6 auras but otherwise the auras themselves seem fine.

well seems like you tried to make a point here, but... A quill rain bow and flat dmg rings/ammy can carry you naked with defaultAttack through the content 2 times, from any starting point on the passive tree.

there is OP solutions everywhere, just need to sniff em out.. Auras are fine.

Actually , i wasnt. Seen a post with auras in it, seen a quote that made me chuckle, posted , moved on. :D

I was toying with the idea to increase mana reservation cost by as much as 50% across the board, but also increasing the base area of effect by as much as 3x. As it stands auras without levels or other forms of increased aoe have a dreadful range that requires you to be basically next to the person to benefit from.

This change would discourage aura stacking while making them easier to use in groups. Which in my opinion makes sense. It would obviously still be possible to aura stack, just harder to do so.

Sorry if someone else has already suggested something like this.

This would end up killing a lot of builds and I am not even talking about ones that stack 4-6 auras. Some people are saying that stacking auras reduces the variety of builds but then things like this get put out there which do exactly the same thing. It would also end up making it so that the only way to really use auras would be in groups.

I see your point. While I have nothing agaisnt aura stacking, in fact I do it myself. It just kind of annoys me that auras are more or less used for personal stat boosts, instead of providing an aura to support your team.
