[Kripp] RoS < POE
Honestly I may go back to D3 if PoE doesnt change the way maps work. Way to much of a currency sink for shit exp and meh item drops. Not to mention the challange is greatly escalated. I dont mind the challange but it really isnt worth the risk. After getting a character to 91 and a dozen to the mid 80's i can honestly say maping is the worst part about Poe. It seems like RoS supposedly takes some good steps towards end game.

I don't get the first few pages here, as the title says PoE > RoS. That means PoE is better than RoS...so what de fuq? Either Op changed the symbol or people never went to math class as kids.
I may be missing something though, more likely. Not sure what the "trololol" was directed at. Current IGN: TheBearerOfLight Gizoogle Chris: "Da State of Exile muthafuckas axed mah crazy ass ta post a reminder dat they podcast is dis weekend, as usual. I think the core problem with D3 will still exist.
It is only about item progression and there is next to no character customisation. Adding some points to paragon levels is hardly going to change your character from the next persons. No matter which way you swing it, no matter which class you play or the hours you put in, there will always be a cookie cutter build(s) that can made through uniques. There will always be something that shines above the rest. For some people thats ok. I'm going to play RoS but I highly doubt it will keep me entertained for longer than a couple of weeks. Look at Kripps stream. He's been playing for 6days? and has hundreds of millions of gold and is rush-farming mass-goblins! Not exactly different from pre-expansion is it. Blizzards insistance not to implement proper character customisation will forever haunt them and leave them with endless balance issues. Having said all that... it looks a big improvement. Just for try for see and for know -2013!

" In a nutshell Kripp said D3 ROS was about killing monsters and PoE was about theory crafting and discovering builds. He said they are very different games too, which they are. The cool thing he said was ROS tries to improve your character from login to logout. video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc_KUOTKbWo Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins. Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :( Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. Last edited by ToxicRatt#5950 on Nov 25, 2013, 8:40:00 AM

In short:
1. PoE offers everything D2 did and more, with increased graphics and gameplay experience, which basically makes it more of a diablo game than D3 is. I'm talking itemization, flexibility of classes and skills, the feeling of reward by finding upgrades, trading (which works absolutely fine like in D2 as it is!), endgame variation, etc. Many people have said this already, including some folks from the now dead Blizzard North team. 2. People should see Blizzard for what it really is. You can't say it's only about the game, because the company will decide where the game goes, and the company is influenced by their own agenda. Blizzard is a 'family' type (e.g. Apple, Google) business with crazy amounts of employees dedicated solely to marketing Blizzard games, all with the intention to increase profit to a maximum. Think eSports, AH, Battle.net, Blizzcon and the increasing emphasis on playing with friends. I'm not saying eSports and Blizzcon are bad things, but I advise anyone to be critical at such large media events and the hype it creates. For example, the removal of the AH in D3, 1,5 years after its launch, is nothing more than an attempt to draw players back to D3 for the RoS launch. Trust me, they will find another way to get to your money after RoS launches, such as through microtransactions which make you stronger (in contrast with PoE). I find it shocking that they use the removal of the AH for this, while players have been saying this from the beginning. It's not so difficult to see why they didn't remove it earlier (*cough* RMAH *cough*). 3. Cash/quality wise, D3 isn't even close to PoE. PoE offers way more content with the randomness of maps, skills, monsters, items, etc. The experience is also much more rewarding, both short- and long-term. I do admit microtransactions are expensive, but if you would spend 30-40 dollars worth on microtransactions instead of on the game itself (which you don't), you are offered much individual service. 4. No I don't work for PoE. And frankly, I did not really want to post this, as I like the amount of players that is playing PoE at the moment. Yes it is a niche game. But D2 was too in its later years. " the reason you played POE is because D3 failed your hopes the reason you will play POE again is becaus ROS will fail your hopes. :) CU again in a few months after RoS release :) |

" I was going to add this to my post, then I noticed yours. You're probably right, people have known Blizzard for such a long time (including myself), that the chance is good they will try D3 RoS anyway (including myself). It's all very smart business strategies. |

" Fun read, made me laugh. Hoping its troll. All it screams is you are a typical GGG hater, unhappy at balance changes. Im a solo self-found player and having a blast. Why would you want to compete or believe you could compete with a nolife player?! Bizarre... Surely thats the same in any game, including D3?! I think I'm confused?... Have you played RoS? The irony of your post is that if you really think about all the angles... RoS is an improvement on D3 but suffers from the same fundamental flaw... it has next to no character progression. Paragon-lvl stats... jeez. Use some imagination. Kripp's stream has said it all: RoS will be worth buying for the month it keeps you entertained but at the end of the day, if you can fully gear yourself in 6 days and get to the point where your just looking for goblin farm, thats just not a longterm business model. Just for try for see and for know -2013!

" From what I can tell PoE maps are almost strictly more interesting than RoS maps (RoS maps are more like Torchlight maps). If you're bored here, you'll be bored to tears with D3's "endgame" which is more or less Piety runs. Read my book! The world ending in every way anyone ever thought it might end, all at once.
