No. RMT is going outside of the developers' set parameters to win. Pay to win, by definition, is when you can pay the developers to win.
If RMT was pay to win then just about every online game to date has been pay to win, which sort of removes the stigma of pay to win.
So, no. RMT is not Pay to Win. It's Pay to Cheat.
and cheating is losing by definition

So I need to watch his video which of course is stating the "OBVIOUS"? That
people can buy items online from rmt sites instead of grinding? WOW!! He must be a frelling genius!!
No thank you, I won't give him one extra view count.
But smart move to name the video like that, I bet he gets more views this way.

Any game on the market that has an internet connection and a fan base is p2w if you choose to RMT.
Dumb dead thread, been playing ARPGS/MMOs for over 10 years and people have been RMTing since before I started playing so yeah.

RMT is P2W. Athene, in this case, is correct to say that RMT allows PoE be P2W. Think about it: you farm, sell it to an RMT website, RMT website sells it to someone else for real cash, and boom! Win. The player who buys it re-sells it for exalts, and they get rich. Go figure.
He's right.

First Video of Athene i watched which is informative and he is right.
He states that POE isnt intended or designed to be P2W, but the grindfest it can become makes it "You CAN, but arent forced to, P2W" through RMT. You realy should watch that Vid and try to get his core statement, which I find to be true.

Even if it's troll video, he's right. He made a few great points. Bots and third-party website sellers have made the currency we have a lot less valuable, so that in turn makes the grind much longer to get good, valuable items. So you're left with farming for a 100 hours to get $10 worth of currency or just paying 10 bucks. Bots and these RMT sites have destroyed the game's economy, making the item-finding a lot less rewarding, which is very bad for an ARPG. He's 100% right. Most of the people who replied in this thread haven't even watched the vid, they just read the title and crapped out a response.

1000 h of Farming vs Just buying a Shavs, but what if you couldnt buy a Shavs in the first place ?
The problem you and other people with that logic have is that you think of the time it takes to get a great item like it's a job or some unpleasant duty. When in fact it's still a game that you're playing and enjoying. Now IF you're not enjoying that game, than you're playing the wrong game.

Actually, Athene is DEFENDING the GGG Devs in this Video and says its good that they intent to make POE NOT P2W. He then explains what IN HIS OPINION makes it p2w.
This Video of him is worthwhile watching (one of very few)

If you get caught "paying to win", you get permanently banned, and guess what happens if you're banned? YOU DON'T WIN! Quite the opposite, actually. PoE is pay2lose.
lol
check top20 in ana/onsl and compare nicknames with jsp users. quite a lot similar/identical names. heck even some items from 'shops' appear here and there..
noone got banned for that. ggg does not care it seems
just like lotto scamers are safe, cross-league scammers are safe etc.

Last time i checked this game wasnt billed as casuals come here and beat the game quickly with no effort.
Maybe the billing should be changed to : "An trading thriven aRPG"
I feel liike thats the current meta , and most people secretly enjoy having the trading option because POE is actually a challenging game if you try to play its content.
