There are, I believe, 721 possible combinations of sockets on a piece capable of 6S. Only one of those combinations gives you a 6S so the chance, assuming even distribution, would be 1/721.
Given a 6S piece, there are 7 possible link positions resulting in 5041 possible combinations, however.. more than one of those combinations will result in a 6L. I think there are about 19 patterns that result in a 6L so the odds would be about 1 in 266 to get a 6L.
If I'm right, you're over twice as likely to get a 6L from a 6S than you are to get a 6S in the first place.
If I didn't have a headache and fever at the moment I'd give you an exact answer - assuming of course that the game uses all possible combinations and distributes them equally.
PS: To get a 6L white drop would be roughly 1 in 191786 by my calcs.
PSPS: damn order doesn't matter for the sockets, I'm off a by a good bit there.

1. There is no way you will collect 150 fuse orbs by the time you reach level 70 - unless of course you take 6 months to reach level 70. Most people will get there in less than 10 days and will collect perhaps 20-30 fuse orbs if they are really lucky.
2. The "Occults Vestment" is a great base but as RandallPOE wrote, the "Vaal Regalia" has a much higher base ES and is worth looking for.
3. I've been around PoE for a while now and honestly I have yet to roll a 5link never mind a six. I have found a few 5links and was given a 6Link.
I no longer even trying to roll more than 4 and even then I will only try to roll 4 if the item has amazing stats. You are far better off keeping your orbs as currency and trading for that 6link.

Meh. If you want an amazing 6L quickly. Better make it yourself. Mirrors will be more expensive.come OB. And not everyone.may want to allow mirroring.of their item.

Well i'm not so sure about this. With OB many new players will come (as for at least 3 more months, there won't be any new MMORPG that would draw them) and from personal experience: more players = bigger economy => cheeper stuff in general. I'm just not sure, how well will trading work as i have the feeling that even now, there is too much spam, and selling my drop is so much more tougher...

Well my plan is to go hybrid summoner/coldSpell witch. I dont know how much survavibility ill need, when there will be 7 zombies running all around me :)

There are only a handful of godly items at the moment. All of them have been crafted. If people don't allow others to mirror their items, how do you think you'll get one?
