When diablo 3 RoS comes out, PoE will die and the future will repeat itself

Most will go to ROS, I know I will all that will be left is the same 10 fanboys we see in every thread. Ill come back eventually to check it out but to me POE has the exact same problems D3 suffered from, unrewarding loot drops, but on top of that we have a death penalty and at higher levels desync can set you back hrs of play time. WE also have mandatory trading with a trade system from 1990. It may have worked in CB but now there are to many fucking people and its just rolling spam. I think the game needs to almost die like d3 did so they have to make the game more fun and rewarding.

Good post, totally agree on everything you said.

Kripp, in his stream yesterday nailed it imho:

quote:

"Path of Exile is more in-depth, when you like theorycrafting n shit then play poe".

"Diablo 3 is more like jump in, kill monsters, collect loot. the games are different. But there are only a few really viable builds in poe when you know the game very well. If you dont know the game very well, then it seems the game has a lot of build diversity, which is not the case, and then you will die A LOT."

I thought about those two things for a while and then I thought:

When I play an ARPG I want an overpowered character that destroys hordes of monsters and I want to collect loot. I dont want to struggle with monsters which can one shot me although they are 30 lvls below me.

I think Kripp nailed it ...

I honestly believe it really comes exactly to what Kripp said. Either you like theorycrafting and take into account that you will fail big time while trying out a build in poe and struggle with being one-shotted all the time.

Or you just want to jump right into the action, kill stuff and collect loot. Diablo style.

Well Kripp is talking bullshit. As you get better at PoE more builds become viable, you can easily play with stupid builds when you're good at the game and fully understand it, when you're new there is only a few that you can use without dying constantly. So I have no idea how the fuck he thinks it's the opposite, viable does not mean the best few builds, it means anything you can do decently with. That could be some arrow build, a few different melee splash builds, reave, infernal blow, a few totem builds, trap builds, plenty of different spell builds. And with the passive tree you can try different things with each of those builds, same with different support gems. Honestly though, GGG needs to implement more systems like charges, more support gems that effect the way skills behave, etc. So the customization becomes even more in depth.

And you can easily become OP in PoE, if you're dying to a mob 30 levels below you, or being 1 shot by anything, you're doing it wrong.

I'll get RoS if it looks as good as they've said it's going to be. No story mode, in AH, increased smart drops, move around the acts as I see fit, etc? Sure! I love arpgs, so why wouldn't I give it a shot?

edit: also, I saw light radius in a stream ^^

Why ?

"Path of Exile" not have smart drops ?

"Path of Exile" need smart drops !!

I don't like "Path of Garbage".
Its two very different games so I'm not worried about PoE's playerbase going to D3.

The reason you play PoE is because you enjoy difficult and complex games that punish you if you make misstakes.

The reason you play D3 is because you enjoy polished games(blizzards trademark) amazing looking combat, fast paced arcade type games that you can just kick back with and dont have to think much while playing. Sort of like playing LoL instead of Dota 2.

You won't even be able to micro the courier to give you items in dota 2 while in LoL there's literally nothing that has a remotely steep learning curve.

The games appeal to two different player types, I'm not woried.
I will play RoS because I very much enjoyed playing through D3!

The art is great, gameplay is SO MUCH FUN, graphics are very nice, everything is streamlined and skills are SPECTACULAR (zombie bears anyone?!).

Then when you come to the end, there's nothing left. Just like it's not fun to sit and watch the credits after a great action movie, D3s end game was boring. Items, builds and everything: boring.

So ye I'm really looking forward to RoS! Will be a great ride! But I suspect that I'll leave when the credits start rolling.
My main annoyance with d3 was that you couldnt find good items and at the same time in the AH there were wayy better items for 100k gold a piece.

Now that that is "fixed", I will probably try out RoS, find some uniques and craft stuff.

You guys seriously need to get over this Bullshit, this game is a gear check with desync mixed in. What do you mean make mistakes? Like this game takes some mad play skills or something? How about linking support gems to 1 attack and spamming over and over, because that is the reality of it. The only thing that takes some skill is building you character and people can just look that shit up. Dark souls takes Skills, this game does not.

I don't get the "this game takes skill while this doesn't"

Look the only games that requires skills are renowed games that have global competition (SC2, LoL, CoD, SSBM)

ARPG title doesn't have skill in it, you follow guide, you loot stuff and then proceed to the next power threshold. Dark soul, D3, PoE, TL2, D2... The only ARPG title I know that has skill in it is called Devil May Cry.

Here's a proof of skill base gameplay in ARPG

Comboing is much harder than dodging and evading boss patern...

Edit: And some of the combos are sloppy, was the first DMC4 combo ever made in 2008...

Edit2: Dante combo if you are interested:
