Just posting it again, because nobody seemed to care

I did read it, I even commented on it in my earlier posts.

Chris posted the results of one of the game developer conferences on the subject a bit ago (can't seem to find it right now) but the consensus of all the gaming companies were that you have to decide on server side or client side processing and accept the drawbacks and benefits of them.

Server Side - some desync, less duping/exploit, lower client system requirements.

Client - no desync, duping/exloits will happen, greater client system requirements.

They obviously chose Server Side and its characteristics. They occasionally come up with better predictive client side code to cover a few causes of desync but it will NEVER go away completely.

Its like the most beautiful girl in the world has herpes, you either accept it or walk away. Constantly giving her crap about it won't accomplish anything.

Using your analogy - while there may not be a definitive cure to the 'issue'. it can be treated and reduced a lot without much trouble, using readily available medicine.

Was that the point you wanted to get across?

I'm sorry about my close mindedness!

If that is not the case, could you share with me the incredible depth of your herpes analogy?

It wasn't.

Happened occasionally when a lot of shit was going on, but I don't remember ever dying to it.

As far as I remember, Titan Quest had no issues either, and that game had complex pathing like PoE.

However, the drones are on their way. They will now explain to you how desync is a feature, not a flaw.

by drones you mean people who speak logic and fact

last time i checked, diablo 2 had dupes/hacks/exploits/cheats/dup-esx2/hacksagain.

so yeah thats why no desync...

No, the people responding to me with reasonable arguments are alright.

People claiming that desync is a feature, or that I need to pay for a forum title to share my opinion are drones.

You are assuming that reducing desync means that everything will be destroyed by dupes and hacks.

That is not the case.

This thread features a more technical standpoint to the issue than I can provide, and even has some comments from Mark - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/626664/page/1

As opposed to the drones who are constantly bashing on the desync issue, who clearly refuse to adapt, or adapt resentfully whilst whinging as if its only them it affects.

Constantly posting about desync, how it shouldn't be there, how its a "simple" fix and what not, does not change the fact there are people out there who just don't whinge like you and others in this thread.

I'm not trying to bash on you personally but stop calling people who you disagree with "drones" and the like. You're as much a drone to them as they are to you.

not at all

d2 biggest problem was usually "BLACK WALL"

but 9% of the time that was from bad connection back in the day

and the occasional, WSG amazons in pvp and Paladins with charge =p This was the real desynch in d2

As I just addressed, I am not using the word 'drones' for the opposition.

It's a term reserved for people who blindly defend anything in the favor of the game or GGG, and call me a troll despite me providing reasonable arguments.

There are people who've responded seriously in this thread, and I appreciate that.

Dudes, how about D3? do they have desync too? I always wondered but never played it.

Whirlwind barbarians had some desync issues at one point, but that was fixed as far as I'm concerned.

Aside from that, nothing serious.

It's still there if you are swarmed by fast mobs and manage to walk away clientside while the way is blocked serverside. In this case your client is assuming you are able to walk away and teleports you back when the server's response (way is blocked) arrives.

Desync can be observed in WoW very easy, you just need 2 windowed clients. If you start running in the same direction at the same time, the other character is a few steps behind at both clients. It's not as important as desync in PoE because it just happens to allies, but it's a good reproduceable example because the new position is first send from client1 to the server, which has to send it to client2 and the information is a bit outdated due to the transmissiontime.
sry but titan quest was a single player game, thats why there were no desync and when you play titan quest mutliplayer you should know that there were a lot of "hackers/cheaters/skriptkiddies" too...

it is how it is, almost no cheats/hacks=some desynchs

and btw. got a new pc and have less desyncs now, so there is a correlation between old gpu/cpus and the numbers of desncs you get too ;P..

use leapslam, lightning warp, /oos to get resynced with the server...
