I remember bartering in Diablo 2

gg = good/godly

Never got past 97 (;

If gg = good/godly,
then that means 'gg gear' = 'good/godly gear',
then it means either 'good and godly gear' or 'good or godly gear'
If it's one or the other, mentioning the other term is unnecessary and pointless, therefore illogical.
If it's both, the fact that it's godly means it's good by default, so again, the other is unecessary and illogical, so that doesn't make any sense either..

So I'm not too sure about that definition :O

What I do remember is 98% of the population being elitist players that relied on broken Pallies to actually play the game and refusing to barter whatsoever because "its gg gear noob its worth way more".

What the hell does "gg gear" even mean?

sounds like you probably never got past level 20 in d2.

gg = good/godly

it means "good game"

As in, the game is over, there is nothing more. Implying it pretty much doesn't go any further, aka doesn't get any better.

So gg gear means, the gear that's good enough to roflstomp the game, you get it and you win the game. Good game.

P.S. yes it implies godly. But acronym stands for "good game"

its honestly gotten to the point where i just buy from people that list buyouts even if i pay a little more. this whole no price just offer because i think somebody might offer 5x what this item is worth gets annoying after a while. everybody knows you have a price in mind

as bad as the AH was in d3 at least it forced people to "shit or get off the pot" so to speak when it came to trading.

most of this doesnt really apply to trading GG gear however
I think there's two kinds of items in this game. Ones that have a fairly steady, set price and those that don't.

Currencies are more or less set in stone. Exalted orb costs around 24 chaos, 1 chaos nets you 2-3 fusings. Chromes are 15-20 chaos.

Same with gems. Multistrike sells for ~8 chaos. Cast when damage taken for 6.

How many Bringers of rain do you see selling for a price that is far from 11 ex?

You can try bargaining these prices, but don't expect a huge discount. I fully understand people who don't bother to answer you if you try to buy his multistrike for 3 alch and a blessed orb. You know you're not going to get a reasonable deal out of that.

The other kind of items are pretty much all the rares in this game. I feel they are often sold on the premise of what people expect to get out of them. A 220 dps sword might be a gigantic upgrade for someone and he's willing to pay a nice price for it. Someone else not so much. In these cases the seller should always be willing to negotiate and in most cases it would benefit themselves. Holding onto an average item in the hopes of earning a little bit more is not worth it. Get a fast sale and you are ready to farm more right away instead of spamming the chat for another 2 hours.

Ignoring a blatantly bad offer is in my opinion the right action. When trading an item both parties run a small risk. The seller has to try and price his item as high as he possible can, as long as it is not so high that no one even tries to buy it. While the buyer has to try and offer as low price as he can without insulting the one selling. Anything between those two numbers is the area where haggling can be done. Mastering that makes you a good trader without being a scumbag. I think trading in this game is working really good right now and I wish it gets even better when more people practice it a bit :)

Really? I've had a great day trading. I'm still a noob at pricing for PoE but I felt like things went well.

I've had a great day. The community has been a lot better than most MMOs I've played, especially with trading.

And then you woke up and smelled the coffee?

Nope.

I have yet to have 1 trade go south. It's all been courteous. It's how you start it off, I start off being very polite and it's always reciprocated. If someone doesn't want to go higher/lower, fine, tell them "sorry but I don't think we can work, have a nice day :D" and leave it at that. No one feels bad and no one will bring that black mood to the next interaction.

I try to be positive in games and it's paid off in my years of online gaming/trading.
