FPS drops with AMD cards
" What? You actually expect to get "technical support" from GGG on GGG's Technical Support forum? You must be new... |

Well, I certainly wish I had your PC, but somehow I don't share your woes in spite of the fact that I'm also running an AMD setup.
Windows 7 64-bit Radeon HD 4850 Phenom X4 9650 (Black) 6 gigs Kingston HyperX RAM Striped SSDs for the game Tweaks: >--nosound (--software audio works, with a slightly diminished boost) >Client.txt set to Read Only (supposed to counteract stutter, helps a bit)* >CCC settings to Application Managed/Catalyst AI to Advanced/Mipmap Detail to High Quality >Personal tweak: Unparked quad core (OS-limited tweak. Works on Windows 7) *Note: I wiped my Client.txt and made a new one, then setting the new one to Read Only. The original was at a massive 259 mbs for a text file. Sound is the #1 killer for me. I would freeze on Nemesis mods and certain spell effects, and throwing the game into cache does nothing. Even in Cruel one second can mean certain death. Running --nosound to kill my driver allows me to run pretty much on max graphics (or close to) in full parties fairly decently. However, this does not eliminate the choppy lapses in frames or processing that the game goes through at a constant. Our computers are worlds apart, so aside from the game being badly optimized (and prejudice against AMD cards), it could lie in your setup. However, given the overwhelming hardware in your rig, I'd imagine that you'd be able to brute force this game's requirements without much effort. Good luck. Semi off topic, but you don't ever want to defrag a SSD. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/40335972
There is more info on why. |

>Client.txt -> it is saving everything every person wrote while you were playing this game (of course you have to be in a global/trade chat) which is kinda ridicilous.
>Personal tweak: Unparked quad core (OS-limited tweak. Works on Windows 7) -> yeah I did the same some weeks ago ... IGN : tricursemadBO

This is the concern I share with my friend in regards to not wanting to bother with HC. While my system is not as good as yours, I find it very odd that I run in to so much performance issues which tend to kill me. Either it's desync throwing me back to the previous room in the middle of mobs because I used Whirling Blades or particle effects which cause my FPS to drop to the point of running a slide show or simply freezing for a second or two.
In Domination, I can stand the deaths in spite of being needlessly irritating but I would never run HC when an outside factor trumps monsters in terms of death. |
