Jay Wilsons list of Diablo 2 flaws

Sounds like Blizzard are realising that they made a mistake with the RMAH.

The sad thing is that what they "are now realizing" has been pointed out by players practically since the announcement that D3 would feature an RMAH.

It's a phenomenon I'd dub the "Romero Effect": Despite criticism, the dev knows always best, and follows his vision without even considering the possibility the other side might have a point. And then Daikatana happens.

Just a note on the OP's post...

I jsut realised that the criticism was a marketing strategy. Blizz realised that they have a hell of a legacy to build on, so what they did was lower the standards and memories of D2 instead of reaching higher than the massive expectation created from D2.

They couldn't handle what they took on, so they made it smaller.

Thats an interesting theory.

Or there are people claiming that D2 did a bunch of stuff it never did...
Keyblades!
It does appear to hold some water especially since the same things Jay criticized of D2 are just as bad if not worse in D3. A great example are all of the annoying lines of dialogue that we were forced to hear throughout the game. Worse for me than Deckard Cains line.

Some of those are legitimately correct conclusions. But the condescending "you don't remember that game you played two days ago correctly" stuff is aggravating.

Which is one of Jay's special skills, doing great CR with the veterans. You can tell he's not talking about a player who:

* Played past normal.
* Made more than one character.
* Knows what a "Unique" item is.
* Read any of the mathy guides on the internet.

I've literally met someone irl who played the game on LAN with his friends and didn't know what uniques were.

That's who Diablo 3 was made for. It wasn't made for us, it was made for people who aren't enthusiasts of the genre. It's toward the Wii Sports of a genre life cycle curve instead of the Dodonpachi SaiDaiOuJou side.

I'd like to believe that the expansions for it will crash and burn like some optimists in this thread, but I do legitimately believe this is a silent majority situation. Blizzard is Coca-Cola, they're established, they will sell millions while doing nothing to advance the genre or provide added complexity for veterans.

It's not objective

It is objective. Jay made a Gauntlet clone, not a Diablo clone. It's no different from getting a ham sandwich when you asked for a gyro.
