" 1. Upon touching the item it is tied to finder (like a curse) - cannot be dropped, cannot be stashed. If you want to get rid of it, you have to destroy it. 2. The influence of the weapon makes your character continuously lose life and ES over time, gnawing on your physical and mental well-being. Something like -20 to maximum ES, -20 to maximum HP for each hour /played with it (in your equipment or inventory). HP/ES returns to normal upon destroying the weapon. This would make room for: 1. The weapons being really powerful as you have to find them yourself and as they won't last you forever. This is fun in the same was a finding a low-level unique which is overpowered for its level and crushing faces with it until you outlevel it. 2. The droprates could be reasonably high, as in you have not too bad of a chance finding one of these once a month, or so. Disregard witches, aquire currency. " I like the "bind on character" idea. Could be hard for the devs to implement but would be great bragging rights. I'll add that to the list of ideas "Bullshit, you get the game for free." - Qarl 2014

You still need a real downside to them, though. ;)
Thematically, something that forces the character to destroy the weapons at some point to avoid being consumed by them would fit them best thematically, imho. Disregard witches, aquire currency.

" The penalty % could get higher and higher with the experience you gained while using the weapon (the weapon would need an exp bar, like a gem). Because life is short, you shall make rains of all sort - Amarena, the Iron Man

I don't think GGG wants to make 'bind on equip' items, I don't particularly like the idea either.
and " It could be the weapon its self that 'hungers' it doesn't necessarily need to be possessed I think. Also, I think three weapons all around the same theme is a little boring, perhaps it could just be two, perhaps with an effect if dual wielded with one another. And the third could be something else, something stand alone. This will allow for more variety I think, and therefore let more peoples different/conflicting ideas be used. Perhaps some corrupt character was a dualist, and had a dagger and axe? the dagger could maybe be a parrying dagger, with some block chance. Dual wielding an axe and dagger would make for an interesting, uncommon combination, we just need the incentive to be there, to make the odd combination worth while. Maybe Reaper, you could edit the thread start, listing ideas and decisions we've made, to make the process a little smoother and orderly I'm excited :) Last edited by Jazzo#2834 on Nov 6, 2012, 7:42:48 PM

" PM me the poem as well please. Very impressed to see 'pantoum' used on this board. Might be a first for any gaming board I've seen, actually. And yes, real estate for unique flavour text is tight. Queen's Decree has set the current record, at six lines. :) If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

How about a unique with semi-random flavor text? Like, when the unique drops, it gets 2-6 lines from a larger poem.
