So where does GGG go from Path of Exile?

Personally I'm just fed up with the fantasy theme. I'd say stick to ARPG genre, use the exact same mechanics just rebranded:

1. Near-future Cyberpunk
2. Post apocalyptic
3. Far future/Space

Implants, chips and upgrades instead of skill gems, robots instead of undead etc. Even the basic Str/Dex/Int stats could be the same, as could ES. Hmm, now I feel compelled to make a passive skill tree sci-fi style...

Hmm, has there been any sci-fi far future ARPGs?

Post-Apocalyptic was Hellgate:London.

But true Space/Sci-Fi... dunno.
I'll search a bit.
Phantasy Star Online is more aarpg than MMO, so there is sci-fi/future

Huh, still no Sci-Fi aRPG with an isometric view found. Plenty enough could be interpreted as aRPG (Deus Ex, SW:KotoR, Mass Effect) but lack a classical association for the aRPG genre.

Maybe I am too young to know.

Edit:
Oh, Borderlands. But this is more post-apocalyptic than space.
Also no isometric view again.

I really wish Hellgate was a better game =(

I really have to get around and try it again.
However I heard that it got milked pretty hard in the end.

Edit:
I found an isometric Sci-Fi aRPG I never heard of...

Darkspore.

Checked out the website of Hellgate.
Damn, it looks more dead than Mortal Online.

Hellgate London, to some degree. Borderlands 1&2, but that's more shooter/looter than ARPG.

For my part if they ever did sthg new I'd like to see something totally unique in the ARPG genre in terms of lore, items, atmosphere etc, but keep up the basics of POE - ie third person style of playing (no ego shooter bullshit) and inventory etc.

Maybe the setting could be in the future sthg like fallout 1 or fallout 2 but more ARPG oriented.

Or make sthg totally new in a vampire world. Eg I loved how baldurs gate 2 modelled vampires: they were very fast and if they attacked you it made you lose levels. Also some of them regened if I am not mistaken. I'd like to play in a new world (let's say you play as a vampire and fight against sthg that threatens their world) which you can discover and which is totally different from what we already had so often - humans vs evil. Also in terms of character customization, you could add a lot of different attributes and skills to superhuman creatures like vampires.

Yes.
Harbinger is one I played a bit way back, around the time D2 was really popular and relatively new, I think. Wasn't really great, but I enjoyed it for the time I played. Set on a massive space ship/station containing multiple alien races, some of which are at war. If I recall correctly all the weapons were guns with chainsaws or other blades attached (before Gears of War did that) and thus you always had a ranged and a melee attack. At the time, this felt revolutionary to me :P

There's also Space Hack which is at least a bit more recent, and I bought cheap when I found it at a store, but never played it more than like half an hour. Just didn't grab me.

There's probably more, those are just the two I know from the top of my head.

I really liked it. For anyone who's interested, it regularly comes up on sale for $1.99 on gamer's gate.

Not sure if it counts as an arpg (or even sci-fi), but I'm also a big fan of Krater. There's also Greed: Black Border but it's kind of crap. I'll take a look through my game collections, I'm pretty sure there are a few others I'm missing.
