For the most part, PoE is a good game. So they obviously can make a good ARPG.

I for one hope they keep up with what works. There needs/needed to be a new King of the ARPG hill after Blizzard dropped the ball.

I think that they are going to stick to this game for 3-6 years and in about 3 years from now, start developing another game. It wouldn't be a sequel, as they are adding more content to this game (including more acts). I would like to think that they maybe create a whole new game, same genre, but completely different (story and game mechanics-wise).

An open world ARPG like Elder Scrolls, first-person view of course with all the complicated shit like the passive tree here, gems and sockets.

I'm just kidding, porn of course.
