Scion is counter to POE's atmosphere

Theres a bistro nearby that offers exactly this for dessert.

What does this have to do with the scion? Absolutely nothing, carry on.

Okay, seriously guys, if you don't believe GGG's decision to make the Scion sexy for the sake of selling the game, just type "Path of Exile" into your Steam Store and tell me what you see. The logo for the game won't have the austere witch or the stoic ranger or the menacing marauder. You'll see the buxom, blue eyed, clear skinned Scion, her tits bare and her conditioned blonde hair flowing. And believe me, when it comes time to start advertising, she'll be the pinup.

I know that most of you are dedicated gamers, so you are going to be abundantly used to having sexual images spewed at you. The Scion is trivial by comparison. But I'm disappointed that GGG, an idealistic gaming company that hasn't had to resort to these kinds of marketing tactics, has decided to go that route. Yeah, I'd call it "selling out," even if its just a little bit.
Completely agree, especially with the catwalk part.

I am playing one just because it peaked my interest with her probably being infused with gems, just like gemlings, and her comment on Piety being already dead in Orleath. Otherwise she is really not a part of Wraeclast theme, she is more like a FF char lost her way into here.

I know, right? I'm getting mad Celes vibes from her character portrait.

Exactly, she sticks out like a sore thumb. And I agree, its not like its going to keep me from trying the Scion out, but I can so easily imagine the moment when someone from GGG's marketing department sat the rest of the devs down and said, "Guys, we need some sex appeal, here. Good story, good mechanics, and good atmosphere just ain't enough!"
If the sight of a scion turns you on, there is really something wrong with you. But on a more serious note, I think she represents the nobles and thus looks and is dressed differently than the other exiles. The daughter of a noble family should be better looking than a brainless marauder "me-smash" type.

you may find her design sexy at first, but then - after doing a few quests - you realize she's a real psycho: seeing little girls in Merveil's minions, feeling a certain Totem boss' pain, hearing things, screaming incoherently after killing Brutus...

not to mention commenting on everything in the game, in a way that makes you go "WTF? how the hell does she know that while running on a beach fighting giant crabs?".

the Witch is mental too - which is perfectly understandable - but Scion makes her look normal in comparison.
and there's no excuse for that really: Scion lived a happy life with dances, dresses and suitors, while Witch was being pursued with pitchforks for raising Zombies.
heck, Ranger probably spent her whole life in the wilderness, Marauder is from a barbarian tribe that lives off the land and fights constantly, and Duelist and Shadow fucking kill people for a living - and all of the above are psychologically stable compared to Scion.

she's someone you really wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, no matter how feminine or innocent she appears at first sight.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

That kinda makes sense though. The Scion had a much easier life, which is why being dumped in Wraeclast turned her crazy while the others were able to handle it better.

Stick to what you do best, GGG. If I want porn, I'll go watch porn. And believe me, the porn industry is gonna do it a lot better than you can.

Really? Why does so much western porn suck so much? (no pun intended) Maybe GGG ought to give it a try to fix it!

But on a more serious note (well, the western porn being atrocious thing was serious) I don't see an issue with this. It fits the background pretty well and during the story it shows how the character changes. If you paid attention to the story you could insert pretty much anyone into that position in some way and it would be perfectly fine. Also, at the end with all your gear on you can't really tell much of a difference anyway.

PS: Nobles ARE supposed to stand out in terms of clothing. (Which later becomes much less apparent!)

Gee, I wonder why they would use the character that got just recently added on the art for the game when the new character was released at a similar time than Steam. I have no idea why this could be the case. It MUST be that GGG decided to try to sexualize the game, right?

what is every one going on about?
she shaked her butt at the selection screen,so?
if all the woman in poe were like that you would have a point, hell even if a small minority were i'd disagree but see were your coming from.
but honestly your just blowing this way out of proportion, what if she did that because she was coming from a rich life were image matters and that"s just part of her personality?
there are statues in game of completely naked woman curves and all, does that mean they choose that or choose that animation because the devs at path wanted too draw in the teens?or possibly that's the art style or just the direction they wanted too go with the scion.
on top of that if you played her you would find she's not a cookie cutter female only there for eye candy, she's badass woman who also just so happens to be proud of her body.

sex is great, and sex appeal is always going too be appealing.
just because some games use it as a trick too get teens too buy games doesn't mean when other games who do use sex appeal right should be set too the same standard.

i think she's great, her later game ramblings and her aesthetic fit well into poe,
and until GGG starts pandering with a new set of "extra high"shelves for hideouts i don't see an issue here.
