Forum Moderation severe issue
We need r9k mode for new threads. Those who are familiar with Twitch chat know what I'm talking about.
When you submit an OP, the system takes a moment to compare it to all posts (or perhaps just all recent posts), both OP and replies, using some kind of AI. If your content too closely resembles a previous post, it denies your new thread, and gives you a link to the similar post(s) so you can reply in that thread instead of posting your repetitive drivel. No direct human action necessary. Because no human force can control this level of thread spam. All GGG needs to do is figure out some way to adapt the chat version of the tech to forums. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. @ScrotieMcB
Pretty boring idea. I mean, aside from all this release stuff GD is usually pretty slow paced and boring. It's only moving fast because of release. I think after a week or two after release GD will be boring as fuck again. :/ A perfect example of why I dislike this idea can be seen on the Artix Entertainment forums. You want over moderation. ROFL. They go far beyond that. Single threads for topics, the archknight system for sectional forum moderators in which they have tons of. Last edited by DestroTheGod#5470 on Oct 23, 2013, 7:43:03 AM

There is always a risk of over moderation.
e.g. Over at the Grepolis forums, I was put on probation for calling someone "santas little red nosed fairy". I was clearly joking in GOOD humour, not hurting their feelings, they didnt report me and were surprised that I was even warned about it. I argued with the Mod for a while until they threatened to ban my account for x amount of time. Over moderation to the extreme. But there IS a point in mods, like to say "hey, stop posting repeated pointless QQ threads because your annoyed. If its not constructive, dont post it" I think the "moderators" job here in this forum, is to flag stuff to GGG for removal. I could be wrong, but thats the assumption I make if the mods have no actual forum changing power. "I admire your optimism. Plus, I'm not talking about butthurt over-PC moderation, as is typically the problem. I'm talking about "you post a thread which already exists, the system stops you." Nothing more, nothing less. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " well , today in poe forums, we have a lot of margin before talking about over moderation. No offense to people that spend time to edit insults/flame wars etc, but I consider personnaly that there is almost no moderation at all or that the moderation policy has to be really reworked to make this place something different than the today mess... " Maybe they should ask NSA if they give them access to Prism, or IBM if they give them access to Watson because an AI that understands the context of a text and can compare it to another one is like 100 if not 1000 times path of exile. |

"Like I said, anyone who is familiar with Twitch chat knows what I'm talking about. And I suspect Twitch doesn't have access to Watson, so apparently the algorithm isn't that damn complicated. " I dunno dude, I have seen first-hand how no moderation can quickly turn into over moderation, even just from one person! I make music, you can listen and dl for free at https://analogmunky.bandcamp.com/music or https://soundcloud.com/analogmunky/tracks

" You consider it to be a mess, I don't. I think it is very important to let people be able to express themselves as freely as possible. Furthermore, people can analyze a system/change from various different angles. By having different threads for the different angles, discussion can within the thread focus on that specific angle rather than having a lot of angles together in a single thread. For instance, one thread could discuss legacy equips from a "fairness" angle, another one from an economic angle, yet another about how people should react against them, yet another one making an actual poll, yet another one making a poll but from a different angle. When it comes to bug reports, since there isn't usually so much to discuss and not so many angles, merging threads can be of merit. This message was delivered by GGG defence force.

" Are you serious? "R9K mode is a new spamfilter put into place on Twitch's own servers, which removes any non-unique messages above 9 characters. Basically, every message that's identical, and bigger than 9 letters, will not display on the chat." Has nothing to do with text analysis. |
