Account Banned W/O Any Explanation

Agreed for the most part except the part that credit card/banks restore monetary losses from identity theft/fraud due to the law (not true in every country) but in this case there is no compensation for time/service lost.

Well, I am unaware of the fact that PoE was so hack/exploit infested to the point it was game threatening (and probably better off not knowing so) but I still don't necessarily agree with blanket bans of any kind that's just how I feel.

But, as I've said I do agree with what you've said for the most part

In any case this is something that the victim in question should try to understand with an apology not something that should feel "lucky" about is what I was getting at.

I think the "lucky" part is being misattributed. Either way, sorry it happened, but it should hopefully get resolved soon.

As for the hacking/exploits.. it's not so much that PoE itself has exploits or hacks as much as there are people using bots and things in-game and trying to make real life money off the virtual goods (which is explicitly against the game rules). These bots can cause a lot of damage to the in-game economy. It can cause massive amounts of inflation and other problems. Look at what happened with Gold farming in Diablo 3. Totally destroyed the economy for anyone who didn't want to "buy" gold, or didn't have a bot of their own. If you played casually, you could never afford good items without "paying" for them by purchasing gold. And now Blizzard is trying to remove the AH and do other things to get rid of the gold from the economy (way too late).

GGG is being proactive in trying to protect their game, and the economy. They are actively seeking out and banning bots and other people who can negatively affect the game. Good for them. Again, sorry some innocent people get caught. It's the unfortunate nature of the problem.

As for your aversion to blanket banning, what do you recommend instead? How would you recommend keeping some botters out of the game if they keep creating many random accounts, and changing their dynamic IPs all the time? How do you suggest they eliminate these bots without further affecting normal players? No matter what you do, someone will be affected negatively. The goal is to minimize that negative effect on "collateral damage". If they make stuff in the game that makes it harder to create accounts, that will deter new players from joining. It's hard to negatively impact bots while not negatively impacting real life players. It's the nature of the beast. You might not like it, but there are very few other options.
I'm not that bullheaded to not understand the issue to certain degree. It's just that blanket IP bans is more of an easy way out solution that's not that hard to bypass if the hacker in question had the mind to do so that leaves innocent bystanders caught in the act.

I'm no expert but i'm aware of some alternative methods that are employed to work out more permanent solution but they are more time-consuming = more money which is still breachable but not as easily.

Then there's a methods of gameguard programs that many korean MMO employ to prevent botting, though it's not foolproof as well

I'm just not too fond of blanket IP bans because they do not consider any innocent players into the account for an easy solution that won't really stop the problem.

Honestly, wish I knew the answer to preventing retards from messing up games, but unfortunately I don't. I just dislike blanket IP bans. I've served in the military and know plenty about collateral damage doesn't mean that I have to like it or agree to it.

I don't agree with Shoot First Apologize Later mentality

Anyway, point of this thread was because of disappointment in their lack of communication and show of inconsideration in this ban.

Well 8 hours have passed since the ban and e-mail sent doesn't look like lift isn't going to happen anytime imminent.

Kinda irritating that this happened while I'm in the process of selling gears to get ready for new league but what it is is what it is.

All I know is I'm seriously going to be upset if this doesn't get lifted before launch
if you use Multibox with "program" is bannable - and lately it seem alot of people increase to use this option because they dont want to lvl up with people, but with themself. (sad to see its after all an online arpg where we players should play together not use 8 accounts at same time and play to get advantage.

if you buy/sell items via sites example this site with forum gold is bannable

if you use bot is bannable

meet to many people who says they arnt doing this when it happends (when they get banned), but Before it happend they can talk openly in either pm or forum that they "trying/using" or whatever they doing.

I dont telling your using any of this, hopefully it will be solved but somehow i feel you should Think twice if you did any of this.

Goodluck mate,

Best wish

And how exactly were you doing trades? Some methods are bannable offenses.
Had to make another account because for some reason one I've registered earlier isn't getting the verification e-mail maybe domain issue

This is actually the first time hearing multiboxing isn't allowed since I've heard that GGG was lenient about it.

In any case, no I don't multibox and prior to this incident I only had 1 account

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something or the sentence was poorly written but are saying it was bannable offense by using Path of Exile official forum threads to sell/trade items? Because that is the only website I've used for trading

"

And people should damn well be banned if they are botting.

I've seen plenty of people in the past, not this game yet, who openly boasts about botting in my gaming experience so I agree with what you say and most of them don't even get bothered about bans and whatnot as the "pro" hacker/farmer/botters always have contingency plans lined up to continue their business since they expect some sort of ban to occur occasionally.

It's only those novice ones that cries when they get banned. At least that's what I've noticed from experienced.

If any case everything I've used and done so far has been limited to tools provided by the official homepage - trading, playing the game, passive tree planner

And couple external tools from poe-tools.com - skill planner, dps calculator, mods compendium

And Path of Exile wiki for information

If you're trying to tell me that any of these are bannable offense then well hell I don't even know what to say but I won't do it again while feeling pretty ridiculous if that was indeed the case

So today, I log in to PoE and start farming docks.

All of a sudden screen stops and puts me into login screen.

Well, I don't sweat. Disconnection and crashes are often and they're pretty much the few shortcomings of this otherwise perfect game, so I click login again.

Then, I receive this message

"
Login Error
Your Account has been Banned by Administrator

I can't believe what I'm seeing so I click again, same thing. I retype in my login information, same thing.

Now, to clarify, I have NEVER done RMT, used macro, or anything I could possibly think of that would cause a ban whatsoever. It was so out of the left field it just left me shocked.

So I head onto the forums click support, there's no direction on where to approach for bans and etc. so I make a reasonable approach of e-mailing support e-mail, which then occurs to me

Oh, if they're going to ban my account they may haven mistaken it for something and must have done me the common minimum courtesy of explaining WHY it was banned

Upon going to my e-mail to write/check the e-mail, I find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So I get banned for reason unbeknownst to me without a single word, which is quite upsetting.

Of course I proceeded to write an e-mail inquiring about the ban but this whole thing left a sour note in my mouth.

If you're going to ban accounts people spend hours and hours of time and money on (yes I did spend money on my account not really because of need for it but because I felt that game was awesome and I should contribute what little I could for enjoying it)

Then at least do the minimum courtesy of sending a notice of what and why certain action is happening.

Once again, I have not done any RMT, used macros, nor anything I could possibly think of that would result in a ban other than simply playing the game
Say thank-you for the ban. Then move on. You'll find other games get much more enjoyable.

From looking at your post history, yes. You didn't follow the rules.

I'm sorry care to explain in detail?

Because I have no clue what you are talking about

EDIT: As stupid as I am for actually taking someone posting a one liner without ANY explanation or evidence, even though I knew I haven't broken any rules or partook in any activity that may result in a ban, I looked into the policies again

Forum Guidelines
Players should not make posts that:

A) Contain hate or discrimination
For example: racial slurs, sexist comments or discriminatory comments.

B) Contain sexually explicit references
For example: describing sexual scenes or acts in explicit detail.

C) Antagonize others in an obnoxious manner
For example: comments that provoke hostile responses.

D) Personally attack or defame other players
For example: direct insults towards others, causing harm to the reputation of others.

E) Contain references to illegal activity
For example: explicit drug references, discussion or the planning of real world criminal activity, discussion or the planning of prohibited in-game activity such as the use of real world trading or prohibited software.

F) Disrupt forum use for others
For example: bumping threads more than once per hour, posting the same or similar content in multiple threads, derailing threads with off topic comments.

If a post is deemed to infringe these guidelines, the player’s post may be edited or removed and their forum access may be restricted. A probated player is not allowed to post on any alternate accounts to circumvent this restriction.

If you are experiencing problems of any kind or would like to report an offence please contact our Customer Support team at: support@grindinggear.com

A) Nope

B) Nope

C) Nope. Only thing that REMOTELY comes close to this was when I posted in a thread that I firmly believed was a person trying to scam somebody and logically listed reasons why I thought it was a scam in neutral manner only with facts. The post was removed by administrator presumably by thread creator's request and the sale "magically" ended within minutes with sketchy original c/o bidder whom the seller refused to validate. Even so, this is not a account ban activity. As a matter of fact, I didn't even receive posting probation.

D) Nope

E) Nope

F) Nope

Funny thing is this isn't even necessary to even look into as in punishment for the listed rules, irregardless of the facts that I've followed, is probation of posting from forums, not account/IP ban. Not to mention the fact that I shouldn't even be able to post in forums on my alternate account which I am currently doing as well.

Now onto Trading Forum Rules

"
Real Money/External Trading

Buying and selling items or accounts for real money or external currencies (such as Forum Gold) is not allowed and we will ban people who attempt to engage in it in-game or on the pathofexile.com forums.

The following things are examples of behaviour that could get you banned under this rule:
Posting a trade thread where you ask for things other than Path of Exile items in exchange for your gear.
Offering people money or external currencies in exchange for their Path of Exile items or accounts.
Advertising external item sales sites. It's best to avoid mentioning them by name.
Running a service where you sell items or accounts to people for things other than Path of Exile items.

Self-promoting forum threads

We've had numerous posts being promoted by automated responses, so we've now implemented rules related to 'bumping' threads:

No more than one bump per hour.
Anyone caught self-bumping more regularly than that will be put on a short duration probation the first time it occurs.
This timer counts from your last self-bump. If people bid, you can still bump it an hour after your last self-bump. This includes using 'current offer' updates to self-bump. Please edit your original post to display the current offer.

Thanks to Charan for the original post about this!

How to Post Items

When you have your post open, if you look to the top left of your screen you will see your character. Clicking on it will cause a window will pop up, allowing you to choose different characters. Find the character you want (in case the item is in that characters inventory). Once it is selected you will see that characters inventory and an option to look through your stash. Your stash will look exactly like it does in game when you open it, tabs and all, including the names if you have premium stash tabs. Once you find the item(s) you want to link just click it ONCE. It will automatically link it in the post, then just close the window! You should see some code in your post, that's the item you just linked.

Spoiler Tags

Under your thread title you will see the spoiler tag. Once you click it it will add the spoiler code. Just link your items between that code. Obviously if you want to label your spoiler you can. Here is an example

Remember to preview your item posts before you submit them!
