Yes, I am making another Game-econ thread about the woes of bartering with people in game. Something really needs to be done about this. I can't tell if the average gamer is a econ genius or just horribly delusional. i'm honestly leaning more toward the latter. The only solution I can come up with is to limit trades. Reduce the stack count on trading. Severely limit trading to level off the economy. Here is the scenario and if you don't see a problem with it you have a severe mental issue.



back to my solution... Limit trading to demoralize outrageously asinine asking prices. As an example you could make exalted orbs only trad-able in stacks of one and only one stack per trade. That's an extreme case but this would discourage players to rip off new players as well as protect the market from inflation which ultimately destroys the experience for players.

I think this is just another QQ thread about noobs whining about people selling items they can't afford. Its "Ridiculously priced" because you scrubs can't afford it. That doesn't mean that some people don't overcharge for a lot of items, because they do, but most people I've seen go by base market value for specific items. If someone is selling an item for 10ex, when the base market is 6ex on that item, there is a chance they don't know the price, and you can talk them down to a more realistic price. If not then tell them to suck it, and/or put them on ignore, because those are the sort of players there is no use in trading with.

Dude, i have played since OB and if i dont count my trading, i've had maybe 7 exalts with ALOT of playtime, how do you see new players getting ripped off by multiple exalts? wat.

The worst I've ever ripped a noob off was they traded me an eternal orb for a bright beak war hammer. At first I asked for a chaos orb for the item, which is about standard price. The noob says they don't have a chaos, then I ask if they got fusing/alchemy/scourings. Didn't have any of those either. So I asked that noob to post every orb they had, and !!! eternal orb!? On the list? LOL? Yeah I'll take the eternal orb. Noob trades me the eternal orb, and felt like he made a good trade, and was exited about the new weapon he just acquired. LOL. I'd do it again in a second, and do it all day every day if I could get away with it.

I really don't care how long you've played. Did it matter to Martin Luther King Jr. how long segregation was an issue? No... Likewise, your time spent in OB is irrelevant. I can see where my post was unclear.

Noobs don't have Exalts. I am not suggesting that noobs can get ripped off of currency they don't have. More than likely what is happening is a combination of conformity and RMT that is lending a hand in ripping people off. Not just noobs.

The biggest problem with your comment is that it assumes I am exclusively targeting the exalt market because of my example. It's just an example that could be applied to all currencies.

So you want good gear to be cheap enough where any random noob who plays a couple hrs a day can afford upgrades? Upgrades are not supposed to be easy to get. This isn't D3 where you can just AH all your gear and get instant gratification. The community comes together and more or less agrees on what specific items are worth within a price range. What people ask doesn't matter, its what sort of prices are specific items selling for?

I'm not willing to deal with noobs looking to make me a lowball offer, even if its all the assortment of random low-tier orb currency they have for a single item I got. If these people are trolling, then my hat is off to them with a perfect 10 score. The worst offender was some noob offering me about 5-6 chaos total worth of random orbs for an andvarius ring. It was such a lowball offer, that I had to troll that noob. I had the item in the trade window, and came up with a BS lie about the trade not working and that they should email support because trade doesn't work.

Starting out in this game from scratch is not supposed to be easy, its supposed to be hard. New players have to earn their place by struggling through the same things everyone else that got to where they are now had to do. This is why when noobs bitch, whine, cry, and complain it falls on deaf ears, and they also get flamed for it.

Why should I be embarrassed? I'm proud of it, to the point where I've boasted about that a few times on the forums. Someone could accuse me of trolling, but its a true story. Flaming? Maybe. Because I generally share this in topics where people whine about new players getting ripped off.

I thought that was pretty obviously an undesirable characteristic in a person. Kinda puts you on the very bottom of the ladder (behaviour wise) that includes the dodgy car salesmen and ends with the people who rip off old folk.

edit: Should preface with Imo. I have no objection to traders making profit, but an outrageous one gained through the ignorance of one party, not cool. There's a reason people value honesty in business. Removed last line, too personal, sorry.

I see the Problem from the other Side. Post an good Item here in Forum and u will get Lowball Offers every Day..
