so what was the Open Beta exactly for?
so.. open beta (BETA) ends
it ends with massive release of (mostly interesting) HUGE balance, design, mechanics and gameplay changes changes that were not tested, not validated and have not known consequences when faced with 10k players doing eveything to abuse the shit out of them (trigger gems with sporkers.. this will be 1.0 version - a completely new game. not tested. not balanced. nothing. (to all people thinking that few weeks/even months of internal testing is worth anything.. LOL!) so exactly what was this open beta (BETA) for? - for one: to get money. and this is perfectly understandable, fair and ok with me. - to test and balance game out. but.. but wait - in 1.0 there will be some changes that destroy all current balance equations (trigger gems being one obvious example). all balance knowledge, all statistical data, everything gathered in open beta is worthless now. why do i care? because GGG is a coward company afraid of fixing/removing stuff that is already there - bullshit uniques, broken keystones/combos, etc. why they are the way they are - i do not know but probably they fear the outburst of rage of RMTers that profit on such bullshit but this is not the point once stuff is in the game - esp introduced in 1.0 (i have problems calling it release as most people that wanted to try it already did that. they are still playing or left and wont be coming back) it stays in the game. no matter how bullshit this is. broken builds will stay broken (spork, CI vs Life), broken items will stay broken (list is too long), broken skills will stay broken (multistrike being mandatory for melee is so fun..). and given that game will be released without any wide-scale tests.. there will be plenty of such crap so what was the point of open beta again? to balance the game before release so the 'first impression isnt overpowered-bullshit-fest'? or was it only for the money? oh is the desync fixed? or is the smoke mine the 'fix' melee players were waiting for like.. from the start? |

By your logic every new skill addition to the game would destroy the balance of it. So the game broke at least every month or so during beta and still survived. I am hopeful it will survive release as well.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

There are more things to test in an online game than just balance.

" Brace yourself for this bit of shocking news: It's gonna eventually do that again on more than one occasion even after release! |

" you see difference between one skill and entire gameplay mechanic (trigger gems)? one is local and simple other is very complex and can result in so many bullshit situations that it is very strange it is released without testing (nothing against you alpha testers but..) |

" Current info about the trigger gems actually means they're huge (indirect) nerf to spork, and any totem build for that matter. |

" You do realize that balancing will be ongoing? 1.0 isn't the final never-changing state of the game. Last edited by oblomir#3693 on Oct 4, 2013, 11:44:13 AM

I most likely will not pvp serious enough to care about balance. I will play my regular shit and play ladder and gear my character the best I can to destroy maps in new league.
They got a great feel from thousands of players in beta for it to be good enough for release. And I guess steam will bring a lot more players in and they feel it's good enough for them to. You can't do much about desync but the game has seemed pretty good overall besids that. People will QQ about everything. Just go to any game forum. I mean people pay 15 bucks a month to flame WoW every month and still play for years. Even facebook game forums is all QQ like your post. Just play the game and have fun. Don't worry about other people. Just hope they aren't rmt to get the edge. |

" previous GGG track record as abysmal when it comes to balancing already-released stuff. they did one nerf (silverbranch) to broken item. ONE. and will allow legacy items to further encourage RMT once it is released it is there to stay. sporkers got crit nerf some patches ago.. yep it definitely changed everything and today there are less than 4 sporkers per group.. yeah right. |
