Mana Shield Info

Too bad. I was just thinking it would be awesome on a CI build as a flask rechargeable source of damage reduction....
I was most excited about seeing the Mana Shield keystone in the interview, it's something I've been hoping for for ever! Now I learn it's the brain child of Hrishi's unique? Awesome!

Mana Shield has the benifit of making life more valuable again, as well as making Soul Taker and Shav's less desirable for all characters.

Hrishi you have only served to confuse the hell out of me.

Unless the keystone strips all energy shield, how can it not work with energy shield? Energy shield takes damage in place of your life unless it is chaos damage. Assuming you have the mana to absorb the hit, the mana should take the 30% damage, and the rest tries to go against your life, but is soaked by the energy shield.

So without the words "Removes all energy shield" or "Damage bypasses energy shields" I don't see how it could NOT work with energy shield.

Edit: Actually, I now see how it could be programmed to not work with energy shields. View the defenses as layers.

Currently, yes. However, as I said earlier testing is far from over so a lot might and possibly will change between now and release. I just hope the finished item is something people like!
Assuming the quote on the front page is verbatim (iirc it is), then "damage is taken from mana before life" means specifically, that if you would take damage to life, then it removes 30% from mana first. Taking damage to ES is not taking damage to life.. so.. hope that explains it.

I'll have to see what the final 1.0 tree looks like, but my ev/es/life acro melee build just got even tankier :)

Brilliant insight. And yes I love the premise of this. You can get a whole lot tankier a whole lot cheaper now. I was just building a tanky witch with massive mana pool who has both life and energy shield, mana shield will go awesome with this build.
Surprised no one had mentioned this. These are obviously bad rolled. Max is 10%. I am thinking that this would synergize great with mama shied. You can always use mana leech to keep your mana full just like Life Leach.
