+6 skills poison arrow
Ranged totem doesn't work with PA.
You can get double totems and still drop clouds that do damage. I have found that fork and lmp together spread the clouds extremely well and are cost effective. right now I can single target with bear trap with culling and take out rares and bosses pretty easily, but if one has high hp then viper works well, +3 bows are expensive so I don't intend to throw on ele hit, but in my build I could take catalyze and that actually isn't a bad idea. Ideally a fast +3 bow with ias would be nice for that. A huge benefit of PA is don't have to deal with reflect, you also aren't having to spam it, so in hardcore this is quite safe. |

" seriously that video sucks you play a 59 char in a 53 zone if that wasnt enough you demonstrate PA with +3 gemlvl lets assume you have lvl 15 16 normal at this lvl you basicly faceroll a lvl 53 area with a lvl 19 gem gz ( lvl 19 gems is lvl80+) something like kripp videos showing of lvl 22 zombies in fellshrine the moment you step into maps poison arrow sucks even lvl 25 wont change that lvl 20 pa has 676 dmg/sec lets be generous and give the lvl 25 1k dps/sec so you have to wait 10sec to deal 10k aoe dps even if you tweak the number with shockstacks it will still not be enough the moment you face chaos resist mobs https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/. Doesn't really matter if at the time I was on the upper end of the level, i moused over exp before and after to give you an idea of how quick leveling was going.
it already does 676 damage. And will do a lot more once I level up more. I guess I should have showed video when I started ledge, but didn't think about it, I went to fellshrine right after and same level mobs died super fast as well. Chaos resist mobs die much slower, yes that is true. This does show that it can be effective for leveling fast, and just about any spec could do this. The only thing I have is 3 points in skill effect to make it work. I leveled from 30-56 with a silverbranch with only +1 skills, and it did quite well, not nearly as good as with a +2, but this is onslaught. I'll post videos of maps when I get there, keep in mind you are talking about a potential lvl 26 PA. The important thing here is play style, and in maps I will be dropping clouds as many places as possible, you don't play it like other builds where you stay at your little mob pack till they are dead. People said hte same thing as you when I played in closed beta with PA after everyone stopped using it. I was basically the only person using it at the time, yet I was top 5 on the hardcore ladder, coming into it way late. In Maelstrom of Chaos where people said it wouldn't be good enough stuff dropped extremely fast still, I could even group with other top players at the time, and be a big contributor to damage dealt, sometimes doing more than their powerful builds because of how I played it and had my set up. I don't see this build losing effectiveness come maps, it might be slower at first when I am only using like a 21 or 22 PA, but eventually it will be 24-26 and should shine. You say it will never work, but are all mobs chaos resist in maps? I mean if not it should do great. Last edited by SEOINAGE#6531 on Sep 24, 2013, 11:51:28 AM

Really the only problems with Chaos damage right now is Chaos resistant enemies, which is especially apparent in maps. With them I lay down Poison Arrow and start laying Viper Charges until they're dead, which is pretty quick with enough attack speed and Multistrike.
I run maps with a level 24 Poison Arrow, level 24 Viper Strike, level 19 Shock Nova, and Vulnerability. Death's Oath should be a nice addition as well, once I get one with 5 linked sockets. Overall it's pretty effective, and Empower gives quite a boost but it's not enough for the skills to be comparable to most popular endgame builds. By the way, without proliferating Shock stacks you'll be killing pretty slowly in maps. I don't mean to advertise my build, but inflicting Shock is easy with it. You'll have Static Blows pretty early on, and that's certainly enough with high enough level/quality Arc/Shock Nova and Strength (for Iron Will). Lightning Trap may also be a viable option. same name in-game Last edited by iao#2860 on Sep 24, 2013, 6:26:56 PM

" Thanks, I'll have to wait and see how lightning trap goes, for now I am picking up ondar's guile and then heading to static blows. I could possibly get a high int amulet and some jewelery too, as mine need replaced anyways. I picked up a mid quality shock nova too, but such low level with my int still. If I group with those that shock it becomes pointless I would assume though. Mostly just for solo clear speed I suppose. I'll look at your build again see if I need to pull ideas. |

I just found a similar bow:
I was thinking of making a poison arrow build too, just a quick question though, is the degen effect of Poison Arrow affected by the damage reduction of LMP + Chain? Or is it only the on-hit damage? The other good think about +3 to skills bows is that you don't need much attack speed with Poison Arrow. Have you leveled the build into maps? With a leveled Empower Gem you should be able to get +6 to Poison Arrow, not +5. Right? IGN: MrG.

" Yes you can potentially have a lvl 26 PA. Mine is just 20 right now, lvl 16 pa, 3 from the bow, 1 from empower being boosted by the bow. I am a long long ways from leveling empower up, it is unfortunate, dunno if I ever will even make it happen. You don't need attack speed, it can be nice, but I am perfectly happy with the base thicket speed. The degen isn't effected by anything, but it also doesn't stack, so you want to spread it just enough that you cover as much areas as possible without wasting overlap. LMP plus fork is amazing for this, the fork makes sure you hit random outer areas. Chain tends to just make a lot of clouds in a close area, but if mobs are spread out it can guarantee a cloud at the other mob, but I would rather reshoot another arrow with my set up, because it will also go in a random place with fork and hit off screen. I have ran a few maps in groups, haven't even tried to solo a map yet. We were running cowards trial maps, and I gained massive exp for it, I just made sure every area of each room was covered in poison clouds. Survivability was fine, even when the boss ressed all the mobs, I just stayed mobile at that point and spread more poison. I am unsure about my damage contribution, obviously you don't just attack what everyone else is attacking, you need to maximize how many targets you hit, also take advantage of time you have to curse, especially if others aren't doing it. I haven't bothered with shocking yet, close to static blows, wanted to try it out before release of the game so I can change my spec a ton should I not like it. So far I solo lunaris and up to piety for exp. I have 4k hp with poor gear, and on onslaught I do ok, I want to have 6k hp, and think it is definitely possible to achieve. However I kind of would like higher health regen values. So I might drop things in left of tree and do a frenzy blood dancer build, but it will cost me some hp. So that is up in the air. Docks aren't efficient to farm, since ghosts are chaos resist. I only attempted to solo piety once, and my daughter kept climbing up on my desk and getting in the way while I was mid fight with her, so I ported out. But I found a +2 melee skills shield that i have viper strike in, I used that on her and kept clouds up, and vuln on her. I don't think she could kill me, but it wouldn't be a super fast fight. Lunaris runs are great exp though, and pretty easy. I would like to have more evasion as well, but that comes down to my poor gear. Ideally I would like enough evasion/hp/hp regen that I can just run through maps dropping clouds on the whole map, carry two quicksilver flasks, or even include run speed in the build lol, and then run through and collect. Done right I think this could be a very efficient build. I know it was in closed beta, but even now I think it can be done again. |

Yeah I am thinking about including a good amount of movement speed in my build, as Poison Arrow is pretty much a kiting skill. I would like to shock stack somehow, but I'm not sure the best method, I've never used an Arc/Shock nova totem before but I think that should be one way, either that or self cast it. With enough increased AOE in the build and possibly using Carcass Jack that could allow me to cast Shock Nova from a safe distance and proliferate shock.
I'm not sure if I should go a life/ES build, Eldritch Battery or CI. What is the mana cost in a 5L? High life regen is easy with Blood Dance boots, but going blood magic would take away Purity / Haste Auras. I could use the Blood Magic Support gem, but that would make take away a potential support gem. I'm thinking: Poison Arrow + LMP + Fork + Duration (if needed) + AOE (if needed) If I really wanted to make it a high movement speed tanky build I guess I could use Artic Armour, I have this sitting around doing nothing at the moment. Would mean that going Eldritch Battery for high mana regen is probably a good idea. Thinking up a build, can be either Shadow/Templar or Marauder: IGN: MrG. I don't really see much by the shadow even worth getting, maybe life, or maybe you just like his character model. I could see your aoe working with quality shock nova.
Honestly, I am a few points from testing out shocking, but now I want to reroll and just make one that Is really tanky, so I can run through mobs, still kite, but hp regens to full really fast, and allows me to just haul through levels. Right now it is ok, but I can tell I get hit fairly hard, and regen works, but not as fast as I would like to be safe. In CB regen was so good I would just carry two instant life flasks, and that was all I needed, pop them whenever life got lower than comfortable. I would like to do the same with a new build, so I might be looking into ditching blood magic for a blood magic support, I'm not sure yet, mana cost is fairly high, but i used clarity leveling up for the most part and it was ok till I had lots of support gems. But it would allow me to run grace, and determination. I'm not sure yet, need to play with it more. Or find a way to implement some kind of slowing other than temp chains, in CB that was my curse of choice because it made the poison debuff last even longer on them, but now it is just meh. On a side note I went into piety with another player, he left before piety was even at 95%, but I finished her, just took a little time. Wasn't too terrible though or scary for onslaught. edit: Wonder if it would be possible to make acrobatics work with this too. Last edited by SEOINAGE#6531 on Oct 1, 2013, 11:57:35 AM
