Deleting your character in standard league is completely different to dieing in hardcore, for reasons that you would understand if you played hardcore.

I don't know of a single person in hardcore/onslaught leagues who uses alt-f4. Heck, if you really care, you can watch my stream just to make sure I'm playing to your high standards and not "cheating".

Lag and desync are the two deadliest monsters in a hardcore game, yes. They are present in every hardcore game. But guess what: you will NEVER hear anyone in SotW crying about it. Yeah, we will die to desync, but that is completely expected - but we will never QQ about it. Do you really think PoE is the first hardcore game we've played?

Our entire guild is based on hardcore gameplay, not because we think we're better than everyone else, but because we like to feel alive when we play. We like our choices to matter and our teamwork to mean something.

PoE and ever other similar game with a hardcore mode, from Hellgate London to Diablo, is quite frankly, boring as shit when there are no consequences to your actions, when "winning" boils down to a game of attrition and everyone can reach max level, given enough time and patience.

Actually, there's a huge difference if you play with others... and no, the "vast majority" of HC players don't abuse Alt-F4.

I can't believe people still fall for this crap. Obvious bait and still the fish bite.

This forum, video streams of the game, and youtube videos are full of people who Alt F4 the game on HC when close to death. Its been happening since hardcore league was put into the game and players discovered that Alt F4 saved them from death.

HC players who post on this forum are also far from the friendliest bunch around, I would hate to be stuck on their server or to count myself among their midst.

Actually I wouldn't mind making a bandit quest ganker on HC though, that would be the only enjoyable thing about it to me.

Perhaps that's because we get tired of being accused of "cheating" by people that don't even play the same game?

That said, hardcore servers are generally far friendlier than standard servers. Hardcore players will give stuff away when they no longer have a need for it, because they know they will lose it otherwise, so they may as well help someone else out. Furthermore, giving gear upgrades to another party member helps everyone survive.

Of course, if you stroll into a hardcore server, call everyone "cheaters" and accuse them of being pussies that abuse alt-f4, your experiences may well be different...

Hardcore is for wimps. Real men play Onslaught.


I'm just teasing, but the point is there is a league where you can feel "more alive" than hardcore, and many "hardcore" players choose not to play it. Why?

I've seen and recieved plenty of stuff given away for free on SC. Maybe stop to realize how HC players attitudes towards SC players come across on here. I've given my reasons for why I don't play HC due to lag and desyncs being a daily issue for me, and yet HC players still try to find excuses to put the blame on my playing instead.

No, you talk down as if HC (and Onslaught) are no different but somehow HC players are worse?

Give away stuff in standard? Well no shit. Its full of GG items anyway, nothing ever leaves so giving away a 99/100 item is seen as insulting. "I dont want that trash, its not perfect"

You are the type of standard player who deserves scorn and disrespect because you show no respect for others.

Thankfully, your not the norm, most standard, anarchy, hc and onslaught players could care less.
