just read up to page 7 but most ppl forget a few options with dw and alternating weaposn
you can create awesome builds because of reave i.e. crit dual dagger build (dont forget crit on daggers is global!) use 2 high crit dagger (important is that you dont use wrath, anger, hatred) look for ele dmg on items (no flat bonuses to ele dmg) use 1 dagger with lightning , 1 with high cold dmg and get EE enjoy shocking/freezing everything (you can use ele weakness as well) |

Well, despite the few of you that feel the need to use ad hominems against me, the majority of you explain pretty clearly the issue that I was raising, that dual wield is simply not balanced properly at all despite the incredibly few exceptions (cleave and dual strike) And mark keeps coming in here to say stupid things like
"sry guise can't make it double damage" Oh cool, just dismiss the issue entirely even though none of us asked for anything like that. Cleave has 40% damage effectiveness when dual wielding, but it hits with both weapons. 70% with one weapon. So the penalty for dual wielding is greater but because it hits with both it ends up being stronger overall.... GOD FORBID YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO REAVE? sry guise cant make it double damage - just alternate weapons even tho that doesn't do anything even remotely beneficial, but hey! 10% atk speed is rly strong guise. Sure... that compares to hundreds of health, several percent chance to evade, resists to all, over double the block... |

I'm with the OP on this one.
I'm severely disappointed with Reave, in fact, I was looking forward to see a different/fun skill to replace ele cleaving. I was wrong, it's pure garbage really. Remove the alternating weapon thingie and you get yourself an actual fun and usable skill. Natrak 94 Witch | Low Life Crit Arc'er - Standard
Jannee 92 Templar | Low Life Wander - Standard Ntk 74 Ranger | Low Life TS - Standard (idling) Jaaneee 72 Ranger | LS Tank (idling) Joramm 73 Templar | Ele cleaver - Hardcore (idling) | |
" Only thing garbage about is that it currently seems very bugged. This message was delivered by GGG defence force.

Despite the fact this is Designed as a single wield skill, the difference in effectiveness is incredibly large when dual wielding. Get that aoe up and running, charges maxed, make cleave users feel bad about themselves.

I'm also disappointed, when the announcement of Reave came, I thought I could effectively dual-wield claws with it.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" alot of ppl are. when ppl think of dual wield in this game first thing that comes to mind is dual strike/cleave...so we didn't put that idea in ppls heads the release of those 2 skills did. u said dual wield so where is it?
damage modifiers don't can currently can't apply to degen.
So let's talk normalization while we're here.
One-handed weapons being 80% of a two hander (at absolute worst after good affixes have been attained, mind you) isn't the only consequence of the current system of one-size fits all affixes. It also means slower versions of a weapon type are comparatively suckier. The Death Bow line is a perfect example. It's a booby prize. Nobody within established norms likes dealing 30% less damage. Couldn't its version of flat +damage, the Flaring and elemental stuff, be a little higher to compensate? Or staves. Staves just blow. Wand+Shield has more spell damage%, more block%, more energy shield... every other combination humbles staves for a caster. There's at least the dream of getting a 6L with +2 gem level on it that would even things a little, but realistically I'm not taking Serpent Stance until I have a Searing Touch. In short, nerf (indirectly and directly) top-end one handed damage, make more skills with a +33% difference between having a shield and not... " Right, that's a function of how really damn good having a crit multiplier is and how good the traits on the tree are for daggers. Dagger AoE Anything would have been a good skill. |
