Hardcore Quote pleeease :D

I'm sorry but I had to include both these stories...

Story 1
Spoiler
Playing as a cleaver I accidentally forgot to replace my life leech gem... then I decide to go facetank merci piety as per usual. Three seconds in I'm down to about 10% life before I notice something is wrong, panic hit weapon swap and luckily my alt set of weapons are semi decent and have a life leech mod! Not only did I survive but I got some sweet rares to boot.

Also had to change the shorts before the next run D:

Story 2
Spoiler
This isn't the best story in terms of it being awesome but one night I was drinking and playing PoE extremely late at night. I had just bought a really cheap lionseye off trade chat and was also stash clearing to the vendor. Well what happened next is pretty sad since I sold my lionseye to the vendor and went to bed, not even realizing what I had done until I woke up the next morning. Needless to say more drinking was in order.

Low maps (Onslaught)
(tbh I would take any of them, my hc/ons gear is pretty limited since half of it is in sc :p)

Story (Due to a hard time choosing I decided to pick two different moments)
1-
Spoiler
After watching tons of racing streams I decided to try racing for a bit. No, sadly it didn't go very well. At the time I was fresh into hc and the races I tried ended up being a bit of a massacre. Slightly demoralized I gave up on them.

While watching helmann's stream he said he would be doing a viewer race. The guy won tons of races in s2, maybe I would have a chance, so I asked to join and I got a spot as a witch.

Let me shorten this a bit by linking something I still have in my favorites:
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/381179

I got 5th place and 1st witch, and my first (and, so far, only) demi-god. I don't think I can put my excitement at the time in words, and neither can I get rid of this link from my bookmarks.

The race that followed I also got a spot in the party, this time as a ranger. I spent the whole race neck-to-neck with another ranger. I then stopped to go to the bathroom at act 2 and missed the ball seal thingy, leaving me behind the group. I then ripped while trying to get it (portal was already gone) ruining my chances at a second exalt. Nonetheless the whole neck-to-neck racing was just thrilling.

2-
Spoiler
Recently I have managed to convince a couple friends to try poe. Since it was their first characters I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to throw them right into hc and crush their hopes and dreams, so I started over on sc together with them. After a few weeks of playing only when all of us were together and teaching them the game we have reached act 3 merciless.

Although I have reached merciless this is the first time I get to act 3 in it. My first character in sc only went through normal and act 1 cruel before I jumped straight into hc, getting rid of all my sc stuff.

Yesterday, however, we were doing crematorium for the quest and dropped our first map. In all the time I have been playing I had never seen either an exalted or a map apart from trade/global chat and streams. Playing with these friends we have already acquired both.

Now they are incredibly excited and want to get to mapping asap. They have been playing several more hours than they had before.

I am afraid I will not be able to convince them to start over on hardcore however, lol.

6L #1(Onslaught) or Uniques (Onslaught)-> Death Rush Ring

So long have my friends made fun of me... for I always perished at Vaal. But had I a scheme to get back at them for all those torturous years of punishment. At the meeting of 9 was the promised time, in which a friend would aid in my war of rime. t the altar was he summoned, and attacks we made struck true; but half way through the fight, Vaal went blue.

Vaal went for a smash, and my friend tried to escape~ But was trapped by my Frost Wall, revenge was finally mine; and the head of Vaal solely for me: thine.

6L #1(Onslaught)

I was farming normal docks. Short allocation. All players in party were 30ish level.

So we run into this pack of champion flame-dogs. And everyone backs off. But I stay with another guy.

Not because be a heroes.

Because someone’s chaos orb is there, in the middle of that pack. I click and hold and other guy does the same.

Dogs go full flame-on mode on us. We are getting grilled pretty badly. But we are not fighting back – click and hold, remember!

I am fine although - maxed fire resist (as always in docks). Good set of full life flasks. Just watching my health and popping flasks, one by one.

And then it happens – other guy grabs chaos (sneaky son of a bitch!). And immediately after that he RIPs.

I grinned at that moment. We played chicken and he won. Not because I backed off. Because he got the orb, paying ultimate price for it.

PS: Any map, any equipment, any gems good for sporker will certainly be appreciated!
I would be happy to receive any of this stuff

Best Moment: When the game finished downloading and I started playing for the first time..
and it slowly dawned on me..
Wow.. this game is seriously awesome and all the other garbage games ive been downloading to try and have wasted time on pale in comparison.. I could seriously see myself playing A LOT of this for A LONG time.. :)

6L #1 Onslaught
or alternatively, any other onslaught gear piece you deem me worthy to get :-P

"Onslaught quote"
So here is my story:

"
After a few unfortunate RIPs due to my slow logout reactions, I took the plunge to just install Autohotkey, and run the infamous logout macro.
I thought to myself that hitting F8 beats esc+clicking logout by a fair margin, and my chances of survival would be much better.... You know, as a starting HC/Onslaught player levelling to 50odd and then dying is kinda demotivating.

Anyway, long story short:
There I was in A3 marketplace cruel with my templar, doing the quests, when when I get surrounded, and spiked pretty hard. On top of that I got debuffed with bleed o.O Panic didn't realy set in, because, you know: i do have the logout macro...

Just to be safe, I stared spamming F8. Like in, lots of times. To my dismay, my screen/game just kinda locked up, and I saw myself dying in slow motion. Something like a powerpoint slide show.

I RIPd obviously.

Only later did I realise, when I rebooted my machine, only a mere minutes before the RIP, that I never activated the macro, and as you all might know, F8 is the default key to take screenshots...

There I was, getting hit in the face, and spamming the "take screenshot" key, unknowingly documenting my death.

Onslaught 6L #1

Well, my story is below. I had to include some of the setup in order for "the moment" to have more impact. This increased the length, but makes the story much more rewarding I think.

Spoiler
My story is long, but fun I hope and harrowing at the end.

Near when open beta started, but after I learned the game a little bit, I made my first "real" hardcore character: a claw witch. At the time, this was pretty crazy--nobody was playing claws because they believed them to be terrible, and furthermore nobody would use a witch for that, would they? But I saw all that life leech and figured I could make myself immortal as a CI dual strike claw witch. I did the theory-crafting and felt incredibly excited.

I leveled as a summoner up until that point, which was a pain because I didn't have the spec for it. Everybody said you should go to CI in merciless A2, but after grinding ledge for a little bit, freezing pulse was just not cutting it. So I decided to go to CI, waaaay before I should. About level 52. This means I had horrible ES items--Heck some of my gear wasn't even an ES base at all, but I was just so incredibly excited to play my unique claw witch that I had to do it.

I spent all my respec points, and got some ES gear. My DPS felt insane to me at the time, 2.5k tooltip DPS on dual strike! This seemed like enough damage to murder anything. I first decided to take it easy in twilight strand, and annihilated the zombies, facetanking Hillock with my insane life leech. So I think that it's time to go to ledge to farm up a little bit, because I felt immortal.

I clear a couple times in a party, skipping Kuduku because I hated him, but on the third time through I felt very confident with my character. That third time I decide that I can tank Kuduku with my leech no problem. I start hitting him with dual strike, leeching back the spark damage, but all of a sudden my ES bar just drops. I don't know what's going on so I whirling blades out as fast as I can, and as I'm desperately trying to get out of the sea of sparks that Kuduku makes I notice my ES: 0.

I freak out. I died. I lost all my ES as a CI user. I was completely and utterly defeated; my first hardcore character ever past cruel Act 1, already in merciless! All that effort I had, gone. I was too hasty, I should have waited like everybody recommended, but now it didn't matter. But in 4 seconds I notice my energy shield recharging. It must be a bug, I died, I had no ES. I'm confused for a little bit, trying to figure what's going on...and slowly, I smile. Indeed, I did lose all my energy shield, but as a CI user I have a little bit more: 1 life.

I was at exactly at 1 life as a CI user, on a Hardcore server nonetheless. I could not believe it. It was so unfathomably unlikely, but all I could do was take pride in surviving.

This is something almost nobody experiences, and something I never hope to experience again.

Hardcore Quote (Lionseye Bow)

Story: "Dude, W....T....F......"

A little late entry, but I think it is an interesting story at least.

So I am not an old school player or anything, so I am still relatively in my 'exciting gear hunt honeymoon phase' in which I get excited at all of the loot that drops everywhere. I recently finally got to the point to where I can do maps on my main character, so I have been trying my hand at that.

Then, a friend of mine messages me and tells me that he has found what he thinks is an ultra rare map.

"IT HAS +1850% ITEM RARITY AND NO MONSTERS ON THE MAP. IT IS SOME KIND OF GLORIOUS LOOT FRENZY EXTRAVAGANZA MAP!," he exclaimed. I was ecstatic.

"Finally man, let's go get us some nice level loot. We will go in there with nothing in inventory and nothing on our bodies and just carry out whatever we can in our hands and inventories," I thought up.

"Sounds perfect man!" he excitingly said.

We were so amped to rush in with our eyes filled with dollar signs.

We rush into the room and start kicking over pots and opening chests laughing hysterically, "mwahahahahahhahah!" Not a monster in sight, just loot and things waiting to be opened everywhere.

Just as items start dropping though, I hear something...

From the corner of the screen, I hear quick footsteps for something approaching.

What it was made my jaw drop, and me almost freeze in disbelief.

The glowing bone armor and swirling green energy around them...

The sheer low probability of it even happening...

The first NICE chance at loot on this game me and my friend had...

A Mother F)@%&*(6g EXILE spawned as the sole thing on the (FREAKING UNIQUE) map by whatever really low chance that they appear and immediately greeted our unequipped faces with about 600 electrically charged arrows. Sitting at the entrance to the "absent of monsters" Vaults map, mocking us seemingly for eternity, was that ugly damned Exile.

As soon as we tried to take the TPs in and get by him, he would seemingly chuckle, smirk, and lodge another 400 arrows in our asses.

The Skype conversation with my friend went from insane laughter and excitement to a quiet, disbelief stricken..

"Dude...... W....T....F....."

I won't forget that damn day..

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for putting something cool like this together for the community.

Cheers.

6L #1(Onslaught)

Definitely the most exhilarating experience for me was my first race. Season 3, 30 minute Ancestral Turbo Solo. I wasn't that interested in racing, so I chose this one because it was short. But that meant every minute counted...I was nervous! 10 seconds left...

And BEGIN! I ran to Hillock as fast as I could with my Duelist. Hillock down! I entered town and talked to Tarkleigh for Dual Strike, then went to my stash and put in everything. Then I logged out.

My strategy was to first get Cleave and Dual Strike using Duelist and then use Shadow to get Fire Traps. I knew that I didn't have a chance as Duelist because everyone was playing that class, so I decided to go Cleave on Shadow instead. Fire Trap would help me kill monsters when I was on low health and needed to retreat. Now all I had to do was survive.

Holy crap! There were a billion totems and all the monsters were zooming towards me. Haste totem coupled with Turbo made Rhoas charge at lightning speed. Death was certain. But NO! I kept retreating then going back, dropping below 10 HP TWICE. My heart couldn't handle it. I felt like I was going to cry, but at the same time I wanted to scream in joy. How did I make it to Ledge??

For the last 10 minutes, I farmed in Ledge while avoiding death by a thread. My heart was pounding and pounding...30 seconds left! I ran to the next mob and Cleaved with my two Jade Hatchets, but the race had ended. Level 9, 30 minutes. I congratulated myself for surviving. Then I logged out and checked how many points I got.

10 POINTS?! I was expecting 3-4! I rushed to exilestats.com and looked at the race ladder...I was 2nd Shadow!! I was right behind Condemned. I crashed back in my chair and let out a big sigh. What a race...30 minutes and I'm already pooped. But it was well worth it!

After that I did one more Season 3 race and got 7 points. Then I died in all subsequent races... :P
