Tired of farming wisdom scrolls?

Say if I finally got what you are saying or if am still wrong:

You don't like the idea of 5 white items = 1 wisdom. Because it's too annoying. And you can't ignore that recipe and are always considering using it.

Exactly :)... "the little scratch on the roof of your mouth that would heal if only you would stop tonguing it"... (edit: it's not really that dramatic... I am having fun playing the game)

I'm sure they run a bunch of tests to figure out that 5 items/scroll is better than either 4 or 6, but that fixed-ratio recipe just seems duct-taped on top to me.

I love the idea of a barter economy and kudos to GGG for trying it, but that doesn't mean there are no possible improvements to their system.

You don't happen to have OCD or something alike, don't you?
The whole point of this barter economy is to have scarcity. Anything that makes the id scroll less scarce makes it more like gold... in other words, contrary to the design philosophy of the barter system.

You can not, and should not be able to do everything. If you id EVERYTHING, then you MUST run out of ID scrolls. Else, ID scroll will suffer uncontrolled inflation and more importantly, becomes a USELESS MECHANICS. This should be obvious. If you can transmute EVERY white item and still not have to buy transmutation orbs, then transmutation orbs become a useless mechanics. Same reasoning.

You have 2 choices:

1) trade.
2) stop identifying blues.
have the very same problem as the op, i'm constantly running out of wisdom scrolls. there already was a suggestion for creating a gem similar to the portal gem to identify things, it would be much appreciated by me.

thing is, for high end players it doesn't make much sense to identify blues but if you have or only one high level char or none at all and you prefer to stop around level 60 to try other builds like i do you don't get much endgame gear to sell. in fact there isn't much trading for midgame gear at all.

identifying blues gives you masses of chards for alchemy and alteration orbs, alterations gives you fusings and i would never ever exchange scraps or whetstones for scrolls as i need them for crafting and the better chance to roll and link sockets.

and selling transmutation orbs for scrolls is no way either as i use them transmutate max valued white jewelery.

tl;dr there are different playstyles and some people like me and the op just like micromanagement. i have more fun crambling (crafting+gambling) something myself than only trying to find it.

Just get one of these:

I get so many Wisdom Scrolls I don't know what to do with them. Already sold over 2000 for chaos, and I pick up all blue items to identify them if I still have space in my inventory. But then again, I don't run much MF to carry back 6 inventories of rares per map.

This! I have that ring on one of my toons and I am constantly selling extra scrolls.

Not really... at least I wasn't diagnosed with anything... But, again... is not that i can't play or enjoy the game as is... it's just that I think it would benefit from improvements here and there... With everyone bitching about desynk and build balance issues, I take it upon myself to keep an eye out for smaller stuff :P. I'm not even starting to criticize the PoE economy in its whole. It's certainly better than Diablos worthless gold, but that doesn't make it perfect.

Well, it's just the minimum that vendor will give you for anything is a wisdom fragment. White non-recipe items sell for the minimum, as non-recipe gems, or blue items with certain mods do.
I don't know how do you think it could be changed into a better state.

Well.. the problem is a fixed exchange rate between whites and scrolls feels like an asspull. (Why on earth would vendors rip scrolls in to pieces in the first place?)
Fixed exchange rates between currency items work well because all orbs of one kind are perfectly identical and there's no reason whatsoever to prefer alt orb A over alt orb B.
"Simple" whites, on the other hand (and unid blues, for that matter) are not equal among themselves. That should be reflected in the economy. And there are ways to do that:

-As mentioned before, temporary special offers from the vendors for certain item types and also temporary refusal to trade for certain item types.

-more simple recipes, for example:

[x links between sockets of the same color] or [x items with 3 linked sockets of the same color] => 1 chromatic shard (2 if all the sockets involved are of the same color)

[x unlinked sockets on the traded items] => 1 jewelers shard

[x items of the same kind] => double wisdom scrolls as usual

[1 white item for each equipment slot] => 1 fusing shard

Vendors already acknowledge that magic mods are not equal and therefore, blue items are not equal among themselves, so why wouldn't they acknowledge that base items are different among themselves?
