Skip "Tutorial" when playing Hardcore

I think it'd just go a little way in isolating that particular experience as your 'first Wraeclastian moments', never to be revisited.

Almost like the tragedy of your arrival in this hellhole is actually as good as Wraeclast gets. Remember when it was just you, a dying exile and some useless zombies and sand spitters? And that bastard Hillock?

Yeah, and that was just the beginning of it all.

(That said, they'd have to change the dialogue for cruel, ruthless and merciless shore encampment arrival. This is a 'someday' thing, if ever.)
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
When you put it this way, it makes sense even to me (and I am awake for a reaaaaly long time already).

Also, where's the narrative logic in appearing on the beach again? Twilight Strand is the single-player introduction to Wraeclast, the immediate post-overboard scene.

It has no real place in subsequent play-throughs on the same character.
I'd argue that there's little to no "narrative logic" in repeating the same content again but harder at all - I think the higher difficulties repeating the same areas and story must necessarily exist above the narrative of the game.

I do, however, thinks there's an important thematic element in returning to the Strand as you start the next difficulties - it's the place you started out, powerless and alone. Now you return well armed and with allies (assuming you're in a party). The first time you were weak - now you're strong. While that necessarily exists to some extent in all the areas you repeat, I feel it's strongest in the Strand.
An interesting take. Certainly, we can throw real narrative logic out the window with this sort of game -- dig too deep and you start wondering where the sand spitters keep those suits of armour they mysteriously drop upon death.

And yes, there is some satisfaction and sense of progression in returning to the Twilight Strand empowered and possibly with 'friends' (this is Wraeclast; I feel the word deserves inverted commas...). I tend to play solo and just found it broke the immersion that *tiny* bit.

Agree to disagree on that one.

If the topic is skipping it due to tedium, though, as the OP suggests, then I absolutely disagree.

To be fair I never said to remove that aspect of the game, especially not when transitioning between difficulties. Just the ability to skip when creating a new hardcore character after you've already done so. Just clarifying.
There's a waypoint on the strand right where you first start out right? How 'bout just make that waypoint active and connected to the 'town' waypoint after the first playthrough? That way people can skip the "tutorial" if they want.
But you still need to kill Hillock in order to collect your reward and progress the storyline when you first reach town

Once more I just want to clarify, so I can at least be sure everybody here's on the same page when they disagree with me, I'm not talking about second or third playthroughs. I'm talking about when a brand new hardcore character is created but in doing so a player doesn't have to have to complete the same solo-only mission just to begin the game where it truly starts, aka the first town.

@Neotoy: Sorry if that last post may have been phrased like an "attack" with all the bold-facing, it wasn't meant to be taken as such. It just seems, at least from my view that several people on this thread might not be fully understanding what I'm talking about, IE the "second and so on playthrough" bit has actually been mentioned more than once.
