PoE vs Diablo 2 - Why D2 is still better
" what the hell are you talking about? it's one players opinion on what makes d2 a better game. d2 is obviously the better game, but i wouldn't ascribe it to that reason in particular 1) better balanced 2) about a thousand times more build diversity 3) infinitely more replayable 4) smoother gameplay, less desyncs 5) more well designed uniques, more interesting itemization... etc etc the list goes on and on. a lot of effort went into d2 over the years. its still the "best in slot" ARPG. |

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

i played d2 for like 6 YEARS -- and i STILL play sometimes during ladder resets. if you haven't played d2, then i feel sorry for you because you are really missing out. poe is nice and fun but it's so far not holding even the tiniest candle to d2... the build diversity is one of the big things. d2 had a much much much much more balanced skill tree and evasion/hp/block system. poe's is cringe-worthy and they are fixing it at a snails pace. I agree 100% with both of the OPs points.
He pretty much summed up why I find myself not playing this game much even though it mostly seems like the best game around. EDIT: Im not a fan of MF gear - but really all I want to do is create a variety of interesting characters and spend all my time with them killing high level stuff looking for gear. You can play through D2 completely naked, how is that balanced? This is also the reason why there might be more build diversity in D2, but the decisions you make regarding your build have very little impact -> bad balance and game design. It was still fun trying shit out but I prefer PoE's balance by far. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" if you look on the forums it seems pretty subjective. check out the evasion system in this game. LOL. no matter how horrifically awful evasion is, and no matter how many people explain this, there is an equal sized crowd that says evasion is "FINE" i rest my case.
