PoE vs Diablo 2 - Why D2 is still better
" I do remember reading a post Chris made that talked about a small group of people already "rushing" chars in PoE, similar to what started happening in D2. It is nice to play through the game though, as I'm fairly certain I never actually played through D2 from beginning to end in 8 years or so of play. |

Sorry once those mods kicked in... ugh, D2 for me was over.

Well, that's just like your opinion, man. I think PoE is by far superior to D2.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

hmm so i level up in 8 hours to 70+
and do mervel runs for the next 5 month ? man thats sounds fun i hate to say it but the finding items thing as endgame is a softcore mentality the majority of the hardcore community would rather have something else than an iir/iiq roll on their items the journey is what makes poe fun the constant adaptation of the skilltree to your gear to save 1 more point yes i did those mephi runs with fullluck charm shako and all that other stuff on a firewall hc sorc in d2 and yes i have no idea why i decided to have such a numb viedeogameexperience and could still enjoy it now 20 years later i expect a bit more from a videogame.... poe has beaten d2 in terms of replayability and many other subjects the moment when you get the right colour combination on your gloves after endless chroms is really satisfying https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/. Valid opinion. but it's one persons opinion.
I've played D2 for a long time, maybe not as long as most, but a long time none the less, up until D3 was finally released. D2 and D3 were very different, but D2 had many different aspects D3 never had, and probably never will, such as the rune word system. Also, most basic D2 builds were primarily compiled of uniques/Runewords (Example: Basic Hammerdin = Shaco, 2x Stone of Jordan, Arachnid Mesh, Sandstorm Trek/Waterwalk, Magefist, Maras Kaleidoscope, and Herald of Zakurum for uniques, and Heart of the Oak for a runeword), where as D3's builds are primarily about constantly upgrading, building around sets, rares, uniques, whatever helped put out the highest DPS with the best survivability. Path of Exile if much Different from Both D2 and D3. The fact that you can literally turn any character into any type of character is one of the main reasons. Building equipment in PoE may be tedious, but at the same time, it is sometimes satisfying. While some of the better uniques (Lioneye's Glare, Koams Heart, Shavrrone's Wrappings) are much harder to come by, and are generally much pricier than some of the less used/not as good/bad uniques, they are ment to be harder to come by since some of them are either staples for some of the better builds, or are just really nice to have and use. While i don't agree with the ridiculous pricing on some of them, it still makes sense that they are unique for a reason. As far as currency systems go, D2's currency system shy'd away from gold quickly, and the primary currency turned to High Runes or SoJ's, as they had far more value, and much more use than Gold. D3's gold became fairly useless in small quantities as the Auction House became flooded with Sub-par/Great Upgrades that were either severely overpriced, or set as a max buyout, which made buying decent upgrades, pretty useless, unless you managed to find one for an actual decent price before it was flipped for 10-100x the price. PoE uses an Item-Currency system which has been fairly workable since coming into open beta (which was the same time I started playing PoE). Though, the vast increase in Currency prices has been... odd, its still semi manageable. As far as your argument on PoE vs D2, it can't even be justified at this point, as PoE IS still in open beta, which means it is still constantly being worked on, where as D2 has been out for 13 years, and has even received an expansion. Mind you, before D2, Blizzard North had practice with D2's predecessor, Diablo, which means they had time to go back, make changes to make the game even better, and add content to expand. I'm certainly sure, that given time, PoE will be just as good, if not, far better than Diablo 2, as it has already passed D3. But then again, this is merely my opinion. And in my opinion, as PoE is turning out to be a fantastic game. IGN: DrXIII

I like Uniques being connected to certain monsters/bosses. It will encourage people to get gear to do certain runs to farm that certain thing. I don't like the current plan of always farming the highest level area because it always gives the best drops.
This is one of the reasons I disagree with IIR/IIQ penalties for being too high of a level for an area. This mechanic makes me think of FF11 forcing you to be the close to the same level as the level of the monster you are killing to have any chance to get a drop. |

" lol its not there is no penalty for iir only for iiq which makes sense otherwise highlvl bots would farm nonstop medium areas how many mobs could drop windforce ? was it more than a handful ? no you had to play high areas to get the bow btw you can target farm certain items for example andvarius its lvl 8 the first zone where a goldring can drop is normal ledge so you would have a good chance to drop one from koduku the itempool is really small at lvl 8 https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/. Why is D2 still more entertaining in my mind?
PvP. One can argue that D2 has a very incomplete and unbalanced system, but I'm still rather amused at PoE's lack of PvP focus. I am a Templar and my legs are cold.
