Why most of 'Unique' items suck so hard?

I have used Doedre's Tenure for a while with my cold witch.
Since Ice Spear freezes opponents, the reduced cast speed wasn't such an issue.
Didn't use them for long, though.

To quote the Wiki on Unique items:
"
Unique items are meant to be less powerful overall than high-level rare items, but offer unique gameplay and allow special character builds to be based around them.

It's not like Diablo II expansion where every gear slot of supposed to be occupied by a unique, it's more like Diablo II classic where some slots will be unique items if they fully benefit your build, but most of your slots will be taken up by rare items.

Silverbranch? Great bow for leveling any ranged/caster character so they can keep using their mana-based skills.
Wondertrap? Great high-risk high-reward item for magic finding end-game.
Wanderlust? Great boots overall due to Cannot Be Frozen, which is very useful early game and level 28 PvP.
Sadima's Touch? Great damage-boosting gloves for physical damage dealers early game, and for those who can give up the stats until they find something better, good item finding gloves near end-game.
Lochtonial Caress? Walking Charge Support gloves for those who don't want to get the passive in the middle of the tree.
Thousand Ribbons? GREAT low level spell caster armor since Elemental Proliferation is a mid level gem on its own.
Voidhome? Good weapon to use for high damage output if you don't need item rarity or experience, meaning it's great for 2-handed item quantity finders. Want rarity and experience, but don't care about speed? Use a Marohi Erqi instead.

Even if you wanted to go on bad uniques in other games, just look at how many low level uniques are in Diablo II that are practically the same "calibur" as you're trying to describe. Then go and look at uniques in Diablo I where some of them even had negative properties to balance out the powerful good properties, just like some of the uniques in this game.

You need to weigh the pros and cons of an item and decide "will this benefit my build and can I handle the penalties?"

And you want to know why no one wants to buy them? Most people are either at end-game and don't need them, or are making new characters and have already found similar items to bolster their character along. The unique items they want are typically the ones that are worth a GCP or an Exalted and up due to supply and demand.
I don't understand the point of this thread.

Literally thousands of useless white, blue and yellow items drop for every unique that drops. 99.9% of these white, blue and yellow items are useless, and people are complaining just because this one specific useless item has a brown color?

I call this item racism!

FUCK END GAME
Seriously, if something isn't viable in end-game, it is complete garbage? That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Get your head out of your ass and learn to understand that this game is a progression from level 1 to level 100. If you fly through all the early levels and are pissed that every item that drops doesn't work for your lvl. 100, well tough shit. That is the way it works.
There are uniques for every level range, rares for every level range, and valid skills for every range. Some are more suited for others. They don't all have to be super effective for end-game maps. There is more to the game than that. Learn to deal with it or stop posting on the forums.

Seriously have you read what i said? NO ONE WANT TO BUY OR EVEN GET THIS CRAP FOR FREE.

I´ll take every single unique you want to give for free. Stop complaining. Yes, you wont make a big profit by selling them on trade chat, but they all have their place and purpose.

I feel that some uniques being too strong is more of an issue instead of some being too weak.

Btw: tabula rasa is the most awesome unique ever. Since i got one, i´ve yet to use any other chest since on all of my characters. 6 link for every build at the price of one, yes please!
Currently using it as "leveling gear" on my lvl74 marauder =)

Edit: also, fuck end game! leveling and making tons of weird builds is so much more fun than perfecting that one.

So you spend all your time leveling characters, so of course you'd like the uniques that are decent 'leveling gear.' Players that enjoy endgame find only a handful of usable uniques and almost all of them are horrendously expensive.

I hardly imagine anyone using it endgame. One link doesn't worth loosing most of you defence stat and resists/etc. Like at all

Might be worth using to farm content way below your level with extra iiq/iir gem. Why would you farm low-level content? Ask the one responsible for map droprates.

GGG´s design ideology behind uniques is that they are not even meant to be "end-game" (as in gear that is not meant to be replaced by a better rare). So if there was a lot of "end-game" uniques, that would be bad. BiS-uniques are bad desing.

Btw is your problem: a) there is not enough end-game uniques b) the end-game uniques don´t drop often enough c) end-game uniques cost too much ?

And my use of low level uniques is more about me doing builds that benefit from the unique features of the items, even at their "finished" state.

In my party one of friends is using Tabula Rasa on 87 lvl marauder, and although he is seeking better 6L, he is still very viable on maps > 70 lvl.

And my > 75 lvl characters are using or going to those uniques:

So there are uniques, which can be worn from early to high levels.
Anticipation slowly dissipates...
