GGG: Is the Orb of Alchemy vendor recipe working as intended?

It is simply this.

Players who have spent money on extra stash tabs and choose to hoard for this recipe will ALWAYS generate alchemy/chaos orbs at a faster rate than a player who uses the recipe but has not payed for stash tabs.

This, I do not like.

+1 for changing the recipe to something that both parties can equally benefit from. I'm fine with more stash tabs for convenience and storing bulk gear, but a monetary investment shouldn't translate this directly into orbs. Especially when orbs are the fundamental currency of this game.

Pay2win is a slippery slope and I think those of you defending the recipe might be worried that you are going to lose your advantage over non paying players.

edit: I'll just add that I found no enjoyment at all trying to match two rare names. I tried for about a day, and haven't ever since. There is nothing 'fun' about it in my opinion.

I would somewhat agree if a normal account only had one stash tab or something. Even non-paying players will have more then 1/3 the storage of someone who just paid a few bux to max it out. - big deal! all you have to do is make one extra account and you are almost equal to someone who paid $1000. (I am assumeing the stash tabs only go to 10 - if they go higher please correct me)

I think this recipe is clever for a few reasons.

*people will save items they otherwise would not. even those with lots of storage will need more if they want to save all the rares. - They do have to work for it.

*you need to play a "matching game" to find em. While this is silly to some, its a different kind of activity then you are used to - and variety is a good thing.

Also, hate to break it to you, but all games that have tradable items are “pay2win”. There is a trading website that already has a heading for Path of Exile. They trade beta keys, orbs and I have already seen discussions where people even bought items for the 2- week challenges. I won’t mention the site, as the less attention it gets the better, but it really does suck, and there is no way to stop it.

The fact is, alchemy orbs for the most part make shitty rares. You won't see any perfect rares or end game rares by using simple alchemy orbs. The recipe isn't hurting the game, and you're not losing anything by not using the recipe to amass alchemy orbs because they're not that useful.

This is the way I feel. I honestly think this thread is much ado about nothing. Being able to get a few more alchemy orbs than another player is a nearly negligible advantage. It's not like being being able to get a dozen more of those orbs changes your character from average to godly.

The actual (theoretical) limit is about 65.535 afaik.

I must be missing something here. I have 21 stash tabs atm. Save all my rares that i pick up until they get to full and then start selling them off. I play solo, alone and haven't traded for anything just yet.

Maybe i am just the most unlucky person out there but have yet to have 2 SAME rare names in the months i have been playing so i don't understand why people are freaking out over stash tabs. I enjoy looking threw the names to see if anything finally matches, it adds another layer to the game that i enjoy.

I like my stash tabs for the simple fact that i am a horder and might need something on another toon. I have over 1000 orbs (or close) in different types that i have gotten mainly from loot, some from vendor but mostly just farming.

i don't think it's pay to win, i love my stash tabs and wouldn't play nearly as much if i didn't have somewhere to store my stuff bigger than the 4 provided.

Sounds like whining to me because you don't want to spend any money to enhance your game play. If you don't like this particular vendor recipe, don't use it but don't bitch it needs to be taken out because some people do like it and do use it.

Well then, guess who is going to be a silver supporter after next payday?

Still - they are very generous with the storage space for free accounts. point stands.

thanks.
Im kindve a hypocrite posting in this topic again after saying i wouldnt, but just wanted to point out if you do get a certain amount of tabs.

The amount of items matching will go up exponentially until pretty much every 2 rares you get will be almost instantly tradeable for an orb of alchemy or every 7 for a chaos orb, if you get enough.

Its not that i dont want to spend money on this game, because i do love it, its just that i dont want to have to spend 25$ then play for 1-2 weeks and then feel like i need to spend more to stay truly competitive. Id rather just pay 25$ one month mabye 10$-50$ the next without any advantages coming to me or others who have spent more or less money.

Also i dont think hoarding 1000s of useless items should pay off at all.

I mean say if i bought another 50 tabs, and filled it to the brim with rares, it would probabaly take a few days, but i know without doubt i would get so many valuable orbs from this.

On the other hand i could just wait till open beta and have the option to make 15 accounts and trade the items between them. Which would not only bearly be worth doing due to the amount of organization and email adresses and different PoE clients running that it wouldnt be worth it. The time it would take would pay off more if i just sold all my rares in my current 13 stash tabs. This means this feature of the game is open to me but only if im very very lucky. I already matched up around 10 alchemy orbs and 3 chaos in past few days(with 13 stash tabs), because of using the app, imagine how many someone with 50 tabs would get or someone with 4......, and i havnt even played much.

Because you are complaining about something stupid, as noted by others on this page.

Who the hell cares if people have more alchs or chaos or just rare items in general. They will anyways just because they are playing a game they enjoy instead of bitching about dumb things on the forum.

I have 15 stash pages, and I'm against having stash tabs.

You know why?

Because I see this mechanic being abused now by generating orbs of alch/regal either for use or for trade. Players who don't have the 1) stash tabs, 2) knowledge of recipes 3) Chrome extension will be at disadvantage, and none of the people here that are pro-stashtabs have provded a convincing argument that it DOESN'T provide an advantage. The fact there are problems now means that there will be problems later. The "wait til Open Beta comes and it will all be solved" is the worst attitude a beta player can provide because it provides NOTHING constructive.

And muling won't make it any easier with the logging in and logging off and whatnot, nor is there any evidence that upon OB that it will be easier. Talking about something in the future is moot because we don't know. I choose to comment on the present and make my judgments on that and what the devs have "written" and not "said".
