i think having more leagues with ladder system is awesome. 4 leagues is great and there's definitely room for more. @OP you would probably be having a ton more fun with the game right now if you participated in the ladders. grab a fresh start, a new character idea and if you are big into trading well i'm sure it's very active on the new leagues.

I do join the Onslaught and have a lv71 ranger there and still alive, why did I say that is because I found I have no reason to stay in onslaught (no better drop, leak of resource)
I have much more resource and a lv91 witch in SC which makes more fun to play and focus on stay in the top 100 ladder in SC (my best rank was 87th)
Maybe I just don't want to give up this character which I spent a lot of time on.

Take a break, play a different game... Come back if you feel like it. It is not the end of the world...
GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!

Oh, just wait until Private Leagues are a thing, and I know for a fact that GGG has been planning them from the start.
Wait. If too many leagues is (it's is in this case, btw, because it's one cause) killing this game, then that means the game will be dead by the time private leagues can happen, which means 'too many leagues' isn't actually enough leagues by GGG's goals...
oh shit, GGG, you're KILLING YOUR OWN GAME BEFORE YOU CAN KILL IT!
But how do you kill that, which has no life?

You do not follow a plural (leagues) with a singular present-tense verb.
i.e. Too many beers is making me drunk
or
Too many beers are making me drunk
Eh, you're probably right. 'Too many leagues are' sounds better but since it actually means 'an abundance of leagues' rather than the different leagues, I'm still not 100% certain.
I would read 'too many leagues are killing the game' as 'many leagues are killing this game and that's a bad thing, but one league killing this game is okay' rather than 'an overabundance of leagues is killing this game'.
But if we make it past tense, then I concede. 'Too many leagues were killing the game' is definitely better than 'too many leagues was killing the game'...still, I wouldn't automatically balk at the latter. Not immediately.
Actually "too many leagues are killing the game" is semantically awkward since that would mean the leagues themselves are literally and actively "killing the game", with OP only pointing out that there are "too many" that engage in doing so.
"Too many leagues is killing the game" while sounding wrong is actually closer to what OP wants to say: "The fact that there are too many leagues is killing the game", with "the fact that there are (...)" only implied by semantics.
So "is" is correct.
