Loot stolen on permanent allocation?

I've also noticed this. Last time I played in a party, I had a Chaos drop. I went to get it and suddenly it was gone.

I think I've seen it about 3 times in the past week. I figured people have found a way around the permanent allocation. My thought, but I haven't tested it, is that the leader switches the party loot allocation, picks up item, and then switches back. I don't know if that would work.

My own personal suggestion would be to correctly identify when and item is dropped due to inventory and when dropped intentionally.

I often pick and drop items I have no use for specifically so that it becomes FFA for whoever may need it. I would be sad to see this ability go.

agreed. It is useful functionality, and is maintains the spirit of limited inventory mini game.

@other replies: Of course the expected interaction is that the client is not trusted by the server. That doesnt mean the client can not try shenanigans and need to be reprimanded by the server. But if the server does not know to look for or how to react to unexpected shenanigans then occasionally the client can pull a fast one. I never suggested the client generated the drop event, but it will be issued a command from the server to create an instantiation of an item, and attach all the necessary attributes to make the item appear on your screen.
Hey...is this thing on?

That should not be possible. Try it.

In my playing over the past few days, I have had several times when playing PA, when someone else has picked up something that looked like it was allocated for me. I have yet to lose anything major, but it worries me.

I know items "flip" after 5 mins; and it wasn't anywhere near that time frame. Generally within 30-60 seconds. i.e. item dropped off an NPC around a boss; but didn't go to pick it up until after the boss was killed.

Like I said, I haven't lost anything major. I've only seen it happen with ID scrolls, whetstones and scraps. I figured if someone had found a way around PA they would be abusing it for more valuable items.

Move de sync from de bathroom to de kitchen for better flow!
crisis solved.
I noticed the same mainly with scrolls.

I wonder what happens if loot drops in the moment a desync happens.
Which instance calculate the allocation (Server or Client)?
I don't know how the mechanics work.

Usually not every player have a desync in the same moment.

EDIT: I would say normaly the server

1. Drop your chromatic orb on the ground
2. Pick it up immidiately
3. See people complaining about bugs

Someone should make a vid of this. It happened to me dozens of times. Had chaos orbs snagged from me even though they were allocated to me. Some fucked up shit. If that were an exalt, I might rage-quit (no, I wouldn't, but I wouldn't be happy... that's for sure).

I suggest making permanent allocation stick even when you leave to town and back. Maybe hackers cannot change allocation in a game, but they can make it seem as if a player is "gone" for a second and then picks up their loot. Just a guess, I don't know how, but permanent items are definitely getting picked up by other players. I've seen it too many times, and on 1 socket items, too. Don't say it's not possible, I'll never believe you!
I have 3 Pc's running here and when we all grp together we have seen this happen a few times and we are like Wowwww did that just happen. Yup. if something drops seems like the other people can sometimes still loot it.

I have tried it on the pug games and able to loot other peoples items still sometimes, not sure if its do to a full invt or another bug.

With all the disadvantages to solo play its still safer and better to play solo IMO.
