- in Softcore standard league, you could buy a 5L for 1-2 gcps whereas in hardcore it was like 15 chaos + some time ago which is a joke.
There is no item sink in softcore because items never vanish. This creates overflood and crazy inflation. Nothing is worth anything except high end stuff. The ritchest get ritcher because prices for stuff like 6L items and Kaom's etc are always rising. The poorest get poorer because you cannot sell anything of the shit you find. You can play solo and w/ friends for fun; but it's unlikely you ever gonna be ritch or at least it's gonna be much tougher than in hc to grind your way up (hc compensates this by being harder to play). If you don't care for e-success so to speak you can play anything in every mode though. But usually people want to progress in some way.

This^ It's just facts, those things can't be denied no matter how much softcore players want to pretend otherwise. And it's not about which league is "better", who cares what you find the most fun, play what ever you want. But that doesn't change such basic facts.

Those aren't facts they are opinions.

[edit] The state of the economy is irrelevant. It may matter in a competitive environment, but standard isn't. Casuals being able to acquire gear easily is a good thing. What are people achieving by being rich in a non-competitive environment? Nothing.

Would be much better if when you died in hardcore your stash was deleted too. That would make it so much more fun.

I play HC/Onslaught with friends for the challenge and to try and increase my survival odds by grouping with people who know how to play as a team.

I play solo in Anarchy for the fresh econ and to test out some squishier builds.

I am more interested in loot and fun than challenge though overall, so I only play HC /w my friends. I solo in Anarchy and play in pubs to progress faster.

All that said, in my opinion, Hardcore doesn't deserve to be called Hardcore until they remove the ability to just "ESC + Quit to Login Screen" to preserve your character. That is not hardcore in any way. If you bite off more than you can chew, or play poorly, or make a terrible mistake, you deserve to die. That is Hardcore. I am fine with characters still existing in Default after an HC death, but the ability to log out in-game cheapens the HC ladder. There would be less HC toons near the top and less high end items in the econ if players were actually bound to the consequences of their decisions by not being able to quit. D3 actually did that right with the log-off timer if you were in a PvE area.

Some players will say "But the desynch is unfair so I need to be able to Esc-Quit sometimes". Boooo! I say "Booooooo!" sir. "Lag" has existed since the dawn of time (in online games). Deal with it. I've lost HC toons in multiple games to power outages, my dogs being ridiculous and somehow hitting the power bar, a vacuum cleaner unplugging my power bar, fuse blown in adjacent dorm room and my room lost power too, etc. It happens! You can't control everything. When you sign up for Hardcore, know that you WILL die. It will happen unless you retire your character and park them someplace.

But it can be ignored. You don't need to follow so called economy, you can play self/team found. I rarely do trades and don't care about it.

You don't need to be enforced to reroll new character to remember it's every death. I play sofcore, but I don't die "just like this" and after every death of my character I analyze what I did wrong and how to prevent it in future. I don't have 1000s deaths on my characters, my biggest death count is 75 on my very, very first character on which I learned to play.

TL:DR It does not matter where you play, as long as it is fun for you.

It gets repeated constantly, some are joking, some actually think they are superior because they play in a different league of a computer game.

i think you overrate the issue by alot

some sc hc forum wars wont drive away anyone it adds a little spice to the boring day in and out grind you have to admit standar player are really easy to tease :)

just look how many replys this thread got in a really short time

and.... if you really think you are superior because you play a cannot die mode in a fucking videogame you have a more serious problem then you might think
