I agree with what you're saying, but there is no Softcore - there is Standard and Hardcore.

Referring to Standard as Softcore is part of the problem IMO, but whatever.

To be honest the new HC league brought nothing new I don't understand why you would play Onslaught and not Anarchy I guess unless you where after the special items or achievements.

If you really love hc gaming that much you can just delete your guy after he dies in Anarchy.

EDIT: Wall of text warning, also the whole post isn't purely a response to the quote, I've gone on a bit of a mad one with this

I've ALWAYS hated hearing people say stupid crap like this on multiple game forums in response to people wanting perm-death features or similar. Clearly, you're not seeing the bigger picture.

I love playing HC. Why?

- First, and most importantly, the impact on the economy. 'nuff said.
- Everyone I can see, I know "they've made it". They've survived this far.
- More emotion. Risk vs reward!
- When someone dies, your mouth drops open and you think "oh shit!" (or grin to yourself, depending who it was and how much of an asshole you are / they are ;) )
- When your buddy dies and you've got to get him back on his feet, working together, bonds, who really gives a fuck and whose just gonna leave you behind...
- When you're in a PUB and that arsehole you dislike drops on the floor.
- When YOU die. Rage down mumble and have your housemates laugh at you with their faces in their hand. You'll laugh again too, one day. Hahaha
- Just the times you have with friends, the "close ones", the scary moments. The rage fits. The memories.

Path of Exile just feels like it was supposed to be played HC. Experimenting with builds and loadouts, rerolling new characters... If it dies, you suck with that build. Or the build sucks. Try again. You keep your bank, items and currency feels as valuable if not more-so than my character (and I don't even have anything particularly special yet).

With all the new, boring easy games coming out that offer no challenge, no risk, no emotion. Just soulless, linear grind. Holding your hand all the way through the game and giving you an undeserved pat on the back every once in a while, whilst handing everything to you on a silver platter.

Path of Exile is like a breath of fresh air in the gaming world imo.

Looking forward to cut-throat in the future, too.
I've always loved open PK & full loot in MMOs, and I loved it in D2. Items are more valuable than characters in PoE it seems, and I'm really looking forward to taking peoples (or atleast trying to). Imagine the betrayal, the e-drama, the rush when a random enters your area.

Some of my most memorable moments in gaming have been escaping alive with my loot in games like Ultima/Darkfall, from the TPPKers in Diablo 2 HC. Or completely fucking someone over. Or helping that poor dude from getting killed by an utter asshat (admittedly, sometimes I'm that asshat).

It's just the way I like to play. If I wanted it all handed on a plate running around in fairy lala land I'd be playing that World of fucking Warcraft. LMAO!

That's why I vote hardcore ;).
I don't know why I made this post, reading through I sound like one of them assholes thinking he's all good because he plays HC. Suppose I'm pretty high it's 5am in the morning and I wanted to express the amount of fun I've been having in PoE recently. Takes me back to the good days of gaming. Not many developers dare to make 'em like this anymore.

GGG doin' it right!

[sarcasm]

Pffft, nonsense! CLEARLY only the league I play myself is the best and most fun one. All other leagues are OBVIOUSLY for scrubs.

CLEARLY.

Hurcur for the magic fairy dust ... and elevated heart rate.
BLAMT!
Scrubcore and proud.
So in conclusion, no matter how hard and off-topic you troll a thread, you're giving it bumps and thus giving OP's point exposure instead of denying it to him.

Fuck my life.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I endorse this wall of text.

I also like hardcore because it encourages me to make new characters when I die. Due to the excellent loot system in this game, I can still get good items and currency from playing a low level character, so it doesn't feel like a waste to reroll. Personally I will delete my char if it dies in Anarchy :D
lol this is coming up again and again...

it comes down to this:

- a hardcore character is worth more because it didn't die a 1000 times which would make it crap
- hardcore requires more skill because you are not allowed to make any mistake
- you have to play more strategically and carefully

- in softcore the economy is fucked. Seen people who have 6 x 6L shavronnes. Seen people who have 300+ exalted orbs. This is not possible if you play legit. There is only 1 explanation: RMT sites, bots. Or very talanted at trading but I doubt there are many of this type
- in Softcore standard league, you could buy a 5L for 1-2 gcps whereas in hardcore it was like 15 chaos + some time ago which is a joke.
There is no item sink in softcore because items never vanish. This creates overflood and crazy inflation. Nothing is worth anything except high end stuff. The ritchest get ritcher because prices for stuff like 6L items and Kaom's etc are always rising. The poorest get poorer because you cannot sell anything of the shit you find. You can play solo and w/ friends for fun; but it's unlikely you ever gonna be ritch or at least it's gonna be much tougher than in hc to grind your way up (hc compensates this by being harder to play). If you don't care for e-success so to speak you can play anything in every mode though. But usually people want to progress in some way.
