" I don't think so. My lighting strike tooltip shows 7K DPS but I'm killing quite fast and my character is quite tanky. Patch did not changed much for my lighting stiker, after shuffling with equipment I lost only about 350 HP. The only change is, that I do not treat physical damage nodes as waste of points so I respeced into average-life high-life-regen build:

And I agree with your consideration about armor - although with shield and 15K of armour standing against mob of tentacles is quite boring, one blow of Kole still eats 2/3 of my 3,8K HP. If somebody had good or godly eq, especially in relation to physical weapon, probably gained from patch. But for self-founder it is still much easier to find good ele weapon than phys weapon. I play open beta from beginning and during this time I was able to equip my lighting stiker only in this:

But I do trades very rarely and everything except boots is self found. Anticipation slowly dissipates...
