Why in trade do you post "offer"
|
LOL I'm glad you guys agree with my plight. It seems we've all dealt with similar people.

If you want an "offer", you should expect to be lowballed.
That's how things work. One would be stupid not to. If you get that someone is lowballing you, then you need to grow up. | |

As a general rule of thumb the person that offers first loses in the trade in anything, RL or game. If you offer someone a low price they can always ask for more at that point. You may also offer more than it is worth and they would take that or the bold people may try to ask for more even then.

The worst of this is when you're not actually trying to lowball them. They're like "offer", it's like, who fucking knows what you think your 51 max life, dual 23% resist belt is worth. No one even prices these items because they're midrange and not many people buy them.
So I respond back like "1 chaos?" NEVER GET A RESPONSE BACK. A couple of times I pm those people again like "Hello? Did you go AFK or..?" and they respond like "Not interested" What do people like this think they have to lose by bartering with you? Do they really think I'm out here trying to lowball mid-range belts to flip to some kind of super-rich noob paying 3 exalts? IGN: NoahsArChen

Think how much would you sell it for. People tend to say offer it they think their item would be worth a bit, especially to certain builds. The most important thing is the people dont stop haggling after that. You have to trade prices and try to meet in between. Someone has to offer first. When the guy selling does that, he puts himself at a disadvantage, since he cannot ask for more and will always have to go lower or have a deal. He does not know what the item is worth to you. Only the one wanting to buy knows that. Only sellers who know the game well can set the price including rarity of certain mods on the item , item level and general value and how useful it is. I have an advice for people wanting to buy an item - just post 75% of how much you are willing to pay tops for the item and everyone will be happy.

" A couple of reasons: 1) Some items have a lot of value and are desired by many people...in this case, you would want people to have a bidding war between each other. 2) It's a good way to test who is a lowballer. I would never sell to a lowballer, even if he changes his lowball price to one that matches what I'm looking for, because lowballers are scum (the ones that know very well what the value is but always offer low). 3) Seller doesn't know the value of the item, wants to know what people would be willing to pay...will ask for a number of offers to get some idea and pick the highest if he is content. I hate when people ask "how much" when I'm selling something. Last edited by Emil_kof#7098 on Jun 6, 2013, 3:19:30 AM

Then post as "open for bidding". Some sellers do put on a price tag, it isnt so hard. Problem here is seller just refuse to put a price, which buyers have to do a guessing game.
On why buyers asks "how much", is that so sellers like you dont label us as "lowballers". Putting a price first isnt a disadvantage. It actually make it easier for you to conduct a trade. Duh... |

Usually I never put a price with the item on trade chat, even if I have a range of value for it. The reason is that I want to be flexible about the price, and I like to discuss prices with people. When I put WTS xxxx for xxx gcp's, i barely get whispered. If I just write WTS xxxx, well people ask me how many I want or give me an offer. if I get lowballed I just say "no thks" (no need to say f-u), if it's somewhere around what I figured it's worth, we can discuss. That's all. No need to be a jerk, either the seller or the buyer.
