Why in trade do you post "offer"

Without actually expressing my extreme anger and intense focused frustration at certain individuals, I ask why do you post items in trade with "offer" then get upset when I respond with an offer lower than what you had in mind? Why would you not just post what you would like to get for the item?

use trade forum.

a decent "thread" gives you IGN of the OP so you can contact him/her in game.

trade chat is full of lazy bad attitude people.

Totally agree. Or when you offer them everything in your entire possession, but "I don't need any of that." So just tell me what you need already!!!!! Trying to read people's minds is fun.
I don't get why they won't just say what the min is. I shop at a store for x, and pay y because it is as advertised. Hell on trade channel I usually get, "offer?". I reply I don't haggle, just say what you want. All three times from different people, no reply to this. Then there are the types who knock forum trading saying it ruins the economy. it HELPS the economy because most on the trade that I saw want too much for stuff. Not all obviously, but holy hell what a spamfest
Well here is my experience recently, Someone posts "Shavronnes Wrappings offer" I low ball 2 exalts. They respond with "F you". Dude hello, where is the humility/humanity. We are bartering I low balled you so give me the counter offer. I already own a Shavronnes: this is how bartering works

actually low balling can just infuriate the other party and cause them to just walk away from the deal.

I dont know how much shavrone is worth..

if its worth like 20 exalts than an offering of 2 exalts is not an introductory offer to prepare for haggling. . it sounds more like you are trying to rip them off.....

if its only worth like 5 exalts than thats not a bad introductory offer.

like i said previously i dont know the correct worth of the Shavronne
They want to encounter the 1 in 1000 noob who offers 2-10x what their item is worth, or they themselves have no idea what it is worth.

Don't lowball straight out the gate, and in your very next response say (whichever is the truth) "I'm not sure it's value to be honest, let me take a minute to search the forums a bit." or " I usually see them going for X-Y, would you take (X+Y) / 2?" It's also nice to preface either of those with "Let me know if you are willing to work out a price here."

So many people in this game think someone will only offer once, and that they are offering everything they have to pay in that one offer. People like that I simply ignore, and this is also why I post prices for everything I'm trying to sell.
IGN = Dellusions_Duelist
@OP. So true. I always ask for prices but most of the time they asked me back "offer". Tbh i dont even know the price range of certain items and doing a "blind mind reading" offer. I end up which them cursing me back.

Funny thing here is most of them stated open for haggling...lol.
If someone posts the most rare/valuable item in the game with "offer", I will respond with 1 chaos or 2 GCP even if it's the most commonly traded for 80000000 exalts. If you then reply with "F you" in response to my offer, I will take your response as hostile and put you on ignore. This is a bartering system and "offer" leaves you open to low balling.
I totally agree!

What i hate the most is when you ask what the ppl want for the item they offer and they go like "What is your offer?" i mean...i just asked you? right?. I offer what i think i wanna spend and then like 20% off and i get a arrogant and irritating reaction.

The thing about that is that most stupid traders are hoping when they await your offer that it will be massively overpriced and then you get a very nice and calm reaction that the deal is okay(tried that). But when it is too low they will go berserk.

Like selling a box of chocolates with a value of $3 and hoping someone will offer you $20 and say okay but if they offer $1,5 go mad and berserk and even say things like "Never pm me again".

I really hope ppl like that just go fall off a cliff or something else. Anyway my ignore list is growing :-D

No matter what, being polite is not too hard...There are lesser aggressive ways to say you dont like the offer!
