A bit tired of the "HC master race" attitude.

Omg, go away noob. Make a screen shot of /deaths, than we talk again.

just kidding :)

But u must agree, it take a lot of skill to take every hp node possible :)
I play hc and standard too, prefer hc only cuz of more stable economy. But standard makes often more fun, cuz u can build what ever u want and not worry about desync.
Let me clarify my point at making this post. This isn't really directed at trolls who outright insult Standard players. My motive to write this is that I have seen sensible, intelligent people in this forum, in a more subtle way, dismiss arguments from Standard players on the grounds that they aren't playing the "real" game.

Hardcore works differently because character builds have different priorities, therefore certain items, nodes, etc have different worth. However this shouldn't be the baseline against which new stuff is measured.

As I said, in the end HC is just one of many possible optimization criteria. It just forces people to build survivability. There could be a league that forces people to build for optimal farming speed (imagine a non-hardcore race) and while certain items and builds would become better, the game shouldn't be balanced around that either.

The economy is exactly the reason I moved to HC in d3, other then that in all my time playing hc and sc I didnt see the difference other then paying for a mistake that may or may not be your fault.
I agree OP. I've played alot of games with similair mechanics; max level takes ALOT of time & effort, experience penalty on death, progressing gear-wise, skill build and whatnot. This game is just perfect for me.

Then some random hardcore player pops up "omg default is too boring". When in fact, the game is just exactly the same. You just be more carefull. And at the point where you are geared up in hardcore or default league, the play-style is the same; do the hardest map possible for your build.

Imo, hardcore players claming this game is boring on default probebly don't enjoy the game on hardcore league as well.

You have to realise that this kind of attitude is built around their lack of self worth (playing 'hardcore' is their way of convincing themselves that they're better or that they can amount to something). It's most obvious in the way that they treat other people. It's based on a whole boatload of insecurity, basically. In an ideal world, people would just play both modes or whatever mode they preferred, and they'd just enjoy the game.

Exactly. I don't point out all hardcore players, but as soon you see a rant towards default players being inskilled is usually because of that. Hell, this even applies to default players as well.

I don't often die from desync myself, but it's usually the excuse I use to not play hardcore. If the game is abit more optimized (balanced, less desyncs) I'll give hardcore a try and play just both default & hardcore leagues.

And from what I have seen, there are people that play default league like it is a hardcore league, the only difference is that we do not have to reroll if we make a minor mistake, and we are OK with that.
I only play HC and i wouldn't be able to play SC even for an hour. It is so boring.

But i agree with the post, but you have to realize, mature people don't complain about SC players being noobs. Just ignore the kids, realize that the majority of the people who play games these days is children, back in 2000 with D2 it wasn't children at all.

Couldn't agree more.
The game doesn't offer the flexibility to be a super good player or anything to begin with.
The only thing that matters is your skill tree and your gear.
If you play HC chances are that you are only doing areas when you are at least 5 levels higher than the area you're doing.
Damage is sacrificed for survivability and the pace of the game is slower in general.
I don't play HC simply because I don't like the playstyle and don't have the patience.
With all this in mind, HC players still tell SC players to grow some cojones.
First, I’ll go ahead and agree with you.

Personally, I only play HC. I remember when d2 was released and being pissed off that I had to do a “normal” play thought and kill Diablo before I could make a HC…

I do not like it when my characters die and even when playing other games I tend to lose interest and reroll a new one if it’s at all feasible. But yea, that’s me and I would never make any claims that my preferences is “better” than anyone else’s and I grind my teeth a bit when I see HC braggers putting down others for not playing the same mode. They make us all look bad.

With that said, there is a bit more to it with PoE. The biggest problem is that if you play HC only then you really should be deleting your characters after they go into default league or at least retire them. This can be rough for some of us. I mean, it’s one thing to look at a ghost in your character list and delete it but altogether different when you see them ready to go with a full set of gear. It can be rough! Especially if it’s a character you have been playing for several months. I think because of that, some people need to build up some extra hatred for the standard/defaults for them to be able to delete a fallen character and move on…

Well, not making any excuses here – there are none. However, because of the way PoE treats HC death, I do think it brings out a little more emotion the topic then other games.

really, only stupid people that play HC say that they are better, i have a lot of friends who play HC and they are all nice people, never heard them once go on about SC players being shittier or something...

The best way is to just ignore those people, because they are very likely bad at playing HC, stupid or have no life so just relax.

This basically.

I play HC mostly, but I have a few SC chars which I haven't played in months.

Don't judge everyone in HC by the loudest voices. 'Cause, that's like racist, or something :P
Brutus. Do you even sync?
I am currently playing from the United Arab Emirates. Before, I was playing from Okinawa, Japan. I'll go back to Okinawa again in a few months, and then I'll be off to Turkey. Who knows after that.

I'd really like to play purely on hardcore, but it's just a gamble with when I'll dc and come back dead. In softcore, that doesn't matter, because I can continue playing without that stress and not have to leave my friends + other characters behind.

When HC players die in POE the characters shouldnt be playable anymore at all, period.
