Do minions benefit from charges, auras and equipment?

On the subject of minions and equipment - do kills that minions do benefit from increased item quality/quantity you got on your gear? And what in the case of a kill from minion exploding via the minion instability passive?

Also on subject of increased item quality/quantity how is it applied to kills via dots like burn from fire spells or fire trap?

Totems are not minions, and work completely differently. A totem does not have skills of it's own, but uses your skills. Since your skills are affected by your passives, they still are when they are cast by your totems. However, the totem does not itself have your stats, so does not benefit from your defensive passives - only the spells cast by the totem get your stats, because they're your spells, just cast via the totem. The totem itself uses it's own stats to defend with.

How are the defensive stats of a totem determined exactly? Or alternatively, what kind of defensive stats does a totem have in the first place?
I was under the impression that totems at the very least derive their health stat from the caster.
Making sure this doesn't get sucked into the void.

Edited in: May as well throw in another question for the bump while I'm at it; This doesn't pertain to Minion in particular, but it is still a question that I'd appreciate an answer to.

If I have, say, Zombies with an Elemental Proliferation Support gem socketed with them as well as either being under the effect of Wrath, or an additional Added Lightning Damage support gem, and the enemy has the Elemental Weakness curse on them, if the Zombies inflict the Shocking state on the enemy, will it then spread due to Elemental Proliferation? Or, because the Zombies do not originally have an Elemental status ailment effect built into them, Elemental Proliferation will not be taken into account?

Bump, also would like to know if the shield passives apply to your Necromantic Aegis. Would be amazing since this passive alone makes your minions so much tankier.

What about in terms of Necromantic Aegis? If I were to take that, as well as take passives such as Shield Defences, would -those- passives go to my Minions, who are now essentially wearing my Shield?
No. Those passives increase the amount of defenses you get from a shield. Taking them in combination with a keystone that means you don't get anything from the shield is suboptimal.

Also, does this mean that Minion Instability does not/is not supposed to increase in damage based off of your fire damage modifiers
Yes. The minions deal the damage, not you. Your passives do not, and should not, affect it.

but is reliant solely on Minion Health (I know it's bugged right now, but will that remain the case)?
No. The base damage comes from their maximum life, but when it's able to be implemented as damage, it will be increased by you any applicable damage increases your minions have. Just not increases you have, since you're not dealing that damage.

If you support minions with elemental proliferation, any elemental stat ailment they cause will be proliferated.

It can't apply to such deaths, yet. This will be improved in future.
