Are rare bows ever worth it? And at what cost?

The question is not that one dimensional. Dps is nice to brag about but its not the only thing that matters - even on SC as death at high levels is hours or days of lost progress. Character building is about a balance of both dps and survivalbility and while its clear hatred + lions + blackgleam is the clear dps winner - that does not take in account the build versatility and additional suitability you would have with 5 or 6 more passives, 99 health, 2-28 light, 36 wed, chaos , and elemental resistances.
You also must make some assumptions about builds - particularly, you must be using hatred (which generally means you are using blood magic gem which means one less "dps" support gem in your 6L LA). Using hatred also means you will have to pass up on either vitality or determination.

As a crude generalization:

* 380 dps hybrid rare thicket (300 physical + 80 elemental): have not done the calculations for this yet mostly because I have no idea how large of an impact NOT having crit makes however since literally only one exists on the server with a price tag of 85 exalts i dont think its even a relevant point of discussion at the moment.

* 343 dps lions + hatred + BG = much more dps - forced to use blood magic gem and hatred , constrained on passives

* 320+ ele thicket = more survivalbility and versatility , can use either aura variant or blood magic - can viably stack Q/rarity

I was basically trying to say a rare bow is better for ROA build. As for the 5% miss, 95% is default max accuracy.

As for ppl crying that LG is overpowered, please don't turn this into D3 :P

I would be the last person to advocate a nerf of any kind to any existing item or mechanic the calculation was simply to find out which bow was better.

Can I just say, I play a now very poor marauder after investing around 30 chaos orbs into:-

I've invested around another 10 chaos orbs into a level 79 bow:-



Is it seriously going to take over 1000 chaos orbs to get one over 300 dps??

also, on the subject of RoA, if u have ele dmg on ur jewel, it will never miss (100% hit). It's supposedly a bug but never got fixed.

Those high dps Rare bows are insane with RoA
