Are rare bows ever worth it? And at what cost?

Just curious.

Lioneye:
Accuracy becomes irrelevant.
Can still crit

Rare bow:
Costs 2 passive points for accuracy to be irrelevant.
If you want to crit, you must stack the shit out of accuracy.

The best rare bow /in existence/ that took the crafter by his own esimation, close to 100 exalteds worth of chaos, has just under 400 dps.

In order to effectively utilize that DPS, you can't really use resolute technique or lioneye will automatically win since they will be critting and you will not be.

So now just to compete you are going to need enough accuracy to get to about 85% accuracy. At 90% you will be "beating" it....slightly....God knows what kind of burden that puts on the rest of your gear, and even if you will be able to keep up since so many affixes will need to be wasted on accuracy...

Seems balanced and interesting.
ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) But at what cost?
I think youre overthinking....if one has lioneye, one uses that. If not, get the best rare bow you can. I used a rare Imperial for a while, and before that I forget which one. Then I found lioneyes lol. Never had less than 90% accuracy, without any out of the way passives. My crit is/was ~10%.

Im sure rares can be better than lioneye, but yea its gonna be a project. This was what I upgraded from:

this is the best rare bow in the game right now.

owner claims it took approx 2500+ chaos.

it's ironic because you would think alteration is better...but you can only generate up to 3 properties doing alt/regal before having to exalt..and even worse, 2500+ chaos would be forty thousand alterations...good luck clicking through all those. chaos it is! lol.

now,e ven with all that, and how good that roll is...

is it ACTUALLY BETTER than a lioneye? in what situations does it win? under what assumptions?

or is this a "working as intended" situation. you want a good a bow? go to wal-mart and buy a lioneye. its on sale!

Pretty sure thats a lot better than my Lioneyes. Id take that bow with 90% acc over lioneyes.

Edit: Eh, linking aside I guess its between physical vs ele dmg. Higher min dmg and spd, so the rare is better phys dps anyway, then you add the lightning...

where you gonna get 90% accuracy? thats a fuckton even vs 75 mobs

you got the gear to support that without sac'ing damage/survive?

also your lion is really bad...if you are going to compare to a lion, y ou might as well compare it to a 6L with 20% IAS and high dmg

Yea mine isnt the best roll.

I got my accuracy through normal passives and my dex is over 400. I never thought much about acc on my ranger, its always been a nonissue.

Take those mods from the thicket, put them on an Imperial with a better atk speed tag, and I bet that would be a much better bow.

1 passive spent on accuracy = 1 more passive you could spend on dps with a lion...

thats the thing you seem to be not getting

lion makes it so you can /ignore/ accuracy.

if you spend just 1 passive fixing your accuracy problem, you are falling behind lioneye
If youre scrutinizing the difference between "face-rolling" and "most face-rolling" in terms of a few passives relating to items that are both awesome...you could give yourself an ulcer lol...

This is my rare bow, its awesome for what I need, but not perfect.

My perfect bow is +2 bow gem, +1 all gem, +IAS and +WED%.

That bow would be GOD for my build.
And if you close your eyes, does it feel like your exalt almost hit this time~
