And how would "options" hurt Your game? I suppose there'd be still enough FFA's to go around, even IF such options were implemented.
There are several points for a "Perm loot" option, but let me mention just two: one thing is that people who, for instance, play lower HP builds, or have worse connections, or are just a tad slower are at a clear disadvantage with a general FFA (or with the current) system, and this disadvantage extends to their marketing capabilities within the game. Also, if there were a Perm Loot option, it would make it easier to identify grab hack users, since, in Perm Loot games it shouldn't be possible to pick up loot that is allocated to another player, hence, it would make the game cleaner in general.

DII had some of the worst looting ever, especially with everyone using "pickit" hack. I think PoE can do a little better...

Yeah, because boss farming was done in solo games, or hugging the coattails of a bot, and the you can't really get upset with a bot whose pickit took everything of value.

Using D2 as a way to glorify a FFA loot system doesn't work too well considering that the ONLY public grouping done was content rushing at the start of a ladder and bot baal/chaos games. That was it. NOBODY did public farm games. NOBODY did public mephy runs. This stuff did not exist. If that is the design goal for PoE, I get it, I just don't think its ideal.

They should stop using the ‘Diablo 2 did it this way’ reasoning. If they try to replicate D2 they are just going to fall short. They need to aim higher, and think outside of the D2 box.

You are wrong about that, everyone did public farm games. Mainly Baal runs. The loot was FFA. And the weird thing was, there was no 900 page post on bnet forum about the FFA loot. But it's now a different generation of gamers I guess.
