Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I fully expect to still be posting in this thread once it hits page 2000. Thats because I also don't think they will just simply fix the issue with options. They will more than likely tweak the current system and most players who were unhappy will STILL be unhappy.

" You do kind of have a point. They should at least saying something about it. But, hey. They are NOT alot of people and they work really hard. So, maybe they haven't got around to anything yet. Thing is, its not really as imortant as some people think it is. Id say if those people left it would be a good thing. Maybe come back later... Maybe come back never. |

" I realize they are a small team but if you look through this thread all 730+ pages Chris has posted 4 or 5 replies. This has been going on for 6 weeks now a straight up answer what/if they are going to anything. I don't see how people leaving being a good thing. If all the people that wants some options didn't use the Micro Shop how much revenue you think they could potentially lose? I don't think the FFA people would be enough to keep the game going in the long run. Last edited by syzmic#0690 on Mar 8, 2013, 9:08:31 AM

" ...Well man, i tried to PM you big well written/quoted out post. It took me a while to write it and when i sent it the website was down. When i went back the post was gone. So, im not typing that out again... :D There needs to be ONE soltuion when it comes to loot. You cannont divide the communtiy and game based of loot rules. It just doesn't work well that way. Every game i've ever player that caters to certain people ends up ruining the game. The more options the more it causes the divide. Divide is bad in game like this when you already have other simple options. As in play with friends or play alone. |

" Im sure they don't care about revenue. I think its kind of funny that people hold this over GGGs head. If they started to cater to people with money this game would be a complete disaster. Im pretty sure their stance is, if you enjoy the game please donate. Which people will continue to do. And im pretty sure they are working the best they can. "Because people leaving is a statistic they can monitor. If people are leaving they can assume it's either, A. lack of content, B. lack of endgame maps, C. loot issues, D. desync issues. They could probably figure based on feedback in-game, and on the forums which are the reasons for players not being active. IGN: Mibuwolf

"You make revenue so you can pay your employees. You pay your employees so they can deliver more content and possibly more games for your company in the future. They won't be working on Path of Exile forever. If however they decide they want to keep working on Path of Exile for 5-10 years or who knows how long, then you'll see better games of course pass them up. Players will leave slowly but surely. Inevitable. IGN: Mibuwolf

" i thought small companies needed money to keep going? so losing people is not a good thing. |

I only play alone or with 1-2 IRL Friends, so I don't really care about the looting system (however, when using the allocation thingy as a measure of "this is yours, this is mine", not trying to steal items from each other, we find out that it feels completely random and I may get 5 Alchemy Orbs in a row while my friend got nothing. (Is this based on something, like who did the most damage or something, or is completely random?)
But after seeing what just a gem of IIQ can do ON SINGLEPLAYER, not even having IIQ Gear, and remembering the complains about the hundreds of items in the ground when partying to the point where you "can't see anything", made me wonder if a "everyone only sees his own loot" system wouldn't solve both problems at once. Also, what about allowing the party leader to decide what kind of loot system to use, like in other games? "Free for All", "Allocated", "Each one his own loot"... Anyway, just typing a suggestion; as mentioned it doesn't really affect me as I don't party with non-friends. |
