Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" To be honest, my suggestions don't change the game much, if at all. But if you can't see that after reading everything I've written, you won't. Have fun on PoE. |

" PvP(combat) in public games? Yeah, because that changes nothing... Loot options would on the other hand just make it possible to play public games in the same way as private games, so I don't see how that changes the game so much. |

"In a ffa loot system, you can do everything. You can just join a group, never attack, stand on top of bosses without doing anything, unnoticed, and focus looting all the items. This leads to cancer, it starts affecting people slowly, then forces them to seperate from each other."
A friend-list map group just got disbanded because of a theft and disrespect.Noone knows who took it, because there is no evidence.Noone can really blame anyone, but actually everyone takes the blame except the creator of the map.Noone will want to share their high level maps with others in the near future. Hardcoreness and interaction at its best.Isn't it ? -- You want interaction and hardcoreness ? I can tell you my old Lineage 2 stories , where you can trash talk in an open pvp world and actually kill the guy if he pisses you of,make him lose experience, loot what he drops, become a red karma person and roam around with the possibility to lose most of your items when you die in a 95% gear dependant game.Make the server hate your guild, and control all the castles in the server at the same time.Oh and btw, get like %0.005xp per mob while doing high level grinding. You children will never know what hardcore meant sadly. Let's do it like this.Let the devs keep ffa, and also implement a choice of instanced loot system. You can still play your grand theft auto, and I can play my pokemon.I think it sounds fair. |

" Hopefully GGG gives us the option to not go with what you are suggesting. Cause options is hardcore. IGN: Mibuwolf

What the heck? Hardcore? Wait a minute, Hardcore? Waiting that the timer runs down while the other guy does the job for you?
Dunno but in my book it's been called lack of character and not hardcore, such an attitude deserves Imho no support :) - Best Signature Ever - Last edited by BestUsernameEver#6698 on Feb 20, 2013, 2:46:41 AM

Start a voting thread and see where it goes. It's pretty simple, most of us play games to enjoy ourselves. Losing friends and not wanting to group due to the looting system will just cause us to stop playing this game. You could test what the community wants by offering group looting options in the group system. Then run stats on which looting system is used most often. I can't count how many groups already have "No ninjas" or "Ninjas will be kicked" in the description... I won't play in groups any more until the looting system is changed. I have no desire to play this game solo. This leaves me not playing this game at all. |

I wasn't going to chime in, but after playing for well over one hundred hours since OB started, I feel I have seen some of the issues with the current system.
Basically, I just don't group up in public games anymore. When I do, I usually am trying to get through a difficult section and EXPECT to get ninja'd the entire time. And I do, every single time. FFA loot sounds great in principle, and I play Hardcore because I love the added challenge... but FFA loot simply gets in the way too much. The timers aren't long enough for me to reach my loot, and since it was MY loot for a short time, I feel cheated when three people are standing there not fighting just trying to click my rares. Great, glad I'm playing ranged dps so these goofballs with shields and crappy weapons can just nab all of my stuff. With no timers, I'm sure it would be even worse. I really think that the timer should be at least doubled. That way, instead of people scrambling to click on my loot in the middle of a firefight in Merciless, people would focus on the game and actually play. Sure, you might get that "lull" where people wait to click loot, but 95% of players pay attention and try to get the loot that is for them. Another issue is that even when I click my drops, 80% of the time or more, I don't get them even though I reach them in time. Usually this is because other characters are clicking my loot and somehow cause my guy to stop. If I don't click the loot at least two or three times I won't ever get it. Basically, just make the timers longer so grouping in Public games isn't just a crapstorm of looters/leechers and chest poppers. I'd like a challenge and hardcore experience more than most, but this isn't that at all. Team Won

" Something like that. I agree. |

The point is
1) FFA timer is not a part of the core part of the game. If it was then everyone would be subject to loot tension whenever they are playing. This is not the case. So... 2) People should have the ability to make a public game and set the timer how they want it according to their playstyle. They could have the timer ultra short so that they can either have their game very competitive for loot or so that they can pick up loot very quickly without waiting on timers. By the same token people can set the timer high so that everyone can get their own drops safely. This might slow the game down but then again thats the players choice to do so and for anyone choosing to join that game. Standard Forever

Well as for me, i'm finally going to take a break from POE for now, i am not able anymore in solo mode to make a significant progress in terms of getting XP, it would be simply tiring and monotone at this stage, and playing in groups as it is, is the opposite thing of fun and mostly frustrating.
Afterwards i'm a bit disappointed about my microtransactions earlier to support the makers of this game because it looks like there is just a one way communication ( or lets call it information policy ) regarding this and many other issues. so long :) - Best Signature Ever -
