Still relatively new to the game so there's probably a lot I'm missing but current loot-mechanics seem rather counter-productive to me.
On the one hand grouping seems encouraged since it gives more experience and loot. Yet at the same time the timers are so short that the actual chance of me getting a good item seems to be vastly lower when in groups.
End result being that if I want loot I just run solo and completely disregard the loot-mechanics.
Maybe things change as you spend more time in the game and grouping becomes required but it seems to me that any game-mechanic that encourages users to completely disregard it might not be all that effective.
What's the use of a cutthroat loot mechanic when the option is also available to play solo and have all the time in the world to pick up loot as well as a higher actual chance of receiving items (getting 100% of fewer items is more than 10% of many items).
My vision for a better PoE: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/863780

There are some good points made by the anti-FFA crowd, but for every one of those, there are 3 of this guy. It reminds me of politics. (You can probably guess which side I'm on there.)
Many people from one side of the argument aren't even capable of recognizing or acknowledging the reasons of the other side. To me, that makes their opinion worthless.

Just calling it like I see it. The proof is in the pudding. (See all 550 pages of this thread).
Like I said, there are good reasons to support other loot options, but a large percentage of the people asking for that are not capable of articulating those reasons. If you haven't noticed that from reading these posts, then you are probably one of those people.

I don't like full IL because it feels like playing in your own instanced bubble and your group members are just more or less clever bots.
That has got to be one of the stupidest reasons to be against instanced loot ever. Just admit it, you hate the idea of instanced loot because Diablo 3 has it.
This is another reason I feel strongly about sticking with FFA.

"carebears"
"noobs"
"l2play"
"PoE is not for casuals"
"go away!!"
"this isnt' your game"
and APART from WHATEVER we heard we provided valid claims and facts why FFA is the worst looting system that only brings grief & pickit bots...
and you tell us that our opinion sux?
yes i and some other are more hostile than before but in the end all i hear in this thread is that i am disabled person that has no right to socializing in PoE...

In a brain storm session there are no shitty ideas. I agree that allowing IIQ/IIR to affect the loot timer has the potential for abuse and leaching but the idea does have some merits.
He wants the ability to stack IIQ/IIR to get more items allocated to himself. It truly is a shitty idea.
Just hang back and do shit for DPS and collect more loot than everyone else who is actually doing the damage to the mobs and killing them.
Easy to solve: if someone doesn't fight with the group, the leader can kick him (if there is no kicking option, it is no problem to implement one).
If the leader sees that there is someone with full MF gear who doesn't help at all, why even bothering playing with him? Kick him and he won't get any items anymore if he doesn't fight.
Another option would be, that someone who doesn't deal enough damage, has zero chance of getting a counter. So being productive in a group is a MUST to get the chance for a timer. Easy as that...

My suggestion is to give 2 options when creating a group.
Option 1. Looting System like it exists now.
Option 2. Seperated Loot ( like in d3)
The thing is that the game fps drops really bad when a hoard of mobs are killed at the same time and the pick up timer for the rare item loots are just too short.
I would really appreciate a longer pick up timer for rare loot.
Not every player got a highend gamer system but they still want to play and experience a normal gameplay flow.
I would not call that a fair competition between player (some of them will have fps drops others will not) For the one with fps drops it is impossible to run to his loot before the timer ends.
THIS IS DISTURBING !
Please dear Devs. Make it a fair gameplay for everyone.
Love this game but it would be even better. At least set the loot timer higher

It is funny that you are saying EXACTLY what I am thinking about ffa loot. The pro-ffa side consist of about 90% insults and elitism.

Then once again, I question your ability to read opinions from both sides without bias.
I could write out a list of pros/cons to each loot option. Many of the anti-FFA people say "There is NO good reason to use FFA loot."
To me, that automatically disqualifies my post from being the most arrogant. Those people are saying their personal opinion is the only correct opinion and no reason exists to hold a different opinion.
So for you to say my post is the most arrogant.. I would have to question your capacity to accurately judge such a topic.

You have already proven that your ability to do that is non-existant.

No, not true. You don't even understand the difference between "There is NO good reason to use FFA loot" and "There is NO good reason to use FFA loot ONLY"
