I fail to see how killing monsters and picking up FFA loot is screwing each other over loot.

Its FFA... There is no screwing over.

SOOOOOO WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??!?!.........lol

My god the amount of whine in this thread is insane. Funny, but insane.

As if taking a split second to pick up loot on the ground in a FFA game during a monster fight screws everything and everyone over.

FFA does nothing but distract people from the true purpose which is teaming up and killing bad guys. The timers do not help when the game suffers from lag and random disconnections stemming from the server side.

The looting system does nothing but create unnecessary chaos between players and prevent groups from acting as a cohesive unit. If you want a cutthroat and competitive environment, go play PVP, that is what it's there for.

If you want people arguing with one another, making tons of posts on the same subject daily, and resulting in people quitting the game due to a flawed mechanic, then by all means... Don't change a thing.

A simple option to choose the current FFA system with/without the timer or simply no timer on the loot assigned to a specific person when creating public/private groups would help alleviate the tension between players and promote a more friendly environment.

If anyone can bring a solid argument for why the loot system shouldn't be changed please do so in a constructive manner. Quoting developer posts from over a year ago and telling people to go play a different game is not constructive and counter-productive.

+1

The desire to make the game "cut-throat" is not an excuse for a system that restricts player choices. It's rather unfortunate that this excuse is used in so many places to justify rather poor game design decisions.

PoE has done so much right in this game and both sides make good points on weither FFA loot should stay or go.

But personally I think you will see more pugs if the loot is fixed. Someone made a comment that the worse thing that Jay Wilson did was allow instance loot...the reality is that the RMH was the worse part of D3 cause it gave an outlet to gold farmers and gave Blizzard 15% of the profits.

I'm glad we have no AH here and hope we never see one. But the reality is that if they want more people to group together, they do need to do something different than FFA.
If you think I care what you think, you need more of a life than I do.

You are a joke. Please just stop posting until you can come up with a valid argument. So far you haven't been able to post anything but bullshit and opinion. Everyone who wants change can at least provide some valid arguments and facts.

Wrong... Everyone who wants change only posts opinions about why the want it changed. And like minded people like you just agree and +1 it. No matter how stupid it sounds.

And when anyone else comes along and agrees with GGGs FA loot style and disagrees with you...Well, you consider it invalid.

So please.. Cry more.

As far as jokes go. I am pretty funny..

My main objection with the loot system the way it is as of today:

I'm in a group of 6. We're in a tough area close to a boss. While 5 of us are working on taking down the hordes of monsters. One archer in the back is running around picking up all the good items (rares, gems, scrolls, etc..) He didn't even fire one arrow until after all good items were picked up.

So what happens next? Everyone starts ignoring the monsters and running around picking stuff up.

I joined another group right after this, exact same thing happened. In 75% of the groups I've joined, this happens.

As a melee char, I want support help from ranged chars to help me out. If they're running around picking up items while I'm sucking down pots and fighting - what's the point?

As a ranged char, I want the melee chars to aggro the monsters, so I can provide support without having to run away from a monster coming towards me. If the melee guys are running around picking up items, I'm now having to run away too avoiding the monsters and the treasure.

Net result - It ruins multiplayer for me. This game is incredible, but the multiplayer loot system is terrible. It has gotten worse since open beta. I guess people didn't care so much in closed beta, but now people target the loot and don't help out at all. All it takes is ONE person in the party to ruin it.

Im glad we have something in common..

:D...Lol

Voodu you are an EPIC troll! I suspect you want the system to change...

Based on historic posts the Devs designed this game around single player and private co-op. The Massive Multiplayer aspect was an addition to the core game. The lack of difficulty in co-op and the ninja favoring loot system prove this. GGG has a good track record of listening to player feedback and I expect a change to the loot system soon. They are already 'discussing feedback' on loot.

So Voodu, Thank you for helping to keep this thread on the front page.

Its FFA... There is no screwing over.

It is screwing over if you intentionally stop fighting monsters (the primary objective in a gruop) to run around and grab drops (particularly drops you don't need or drops marked as someone else's).

This is also a problem that GGG keeps trying to shoehorn the entirety of their very large playerbase into a single way to play the game, which is a terrible artifact of past gaming experiences that really only happened because of system restrictions.

If GGG goes this route, then why not let anyone creating a new group set a "loot timer" option, where you can say 0 seconds for no loot timer or 5 seconds for a 5-second adjusted loot timer, etc. If people want to play the game in different ways, then why does GGG have to make everyone play by the same rules?

LOL!!!

OooHhh.. The Drama.

So basically you can't multi-task and don't understand how the loot timer works?

And because you fail to grasp these minor issues its screwing everyone over?

Funny, why is it i lack these issues you claim?

As if someone who stops attacking for barely a split second to snatch a drop ruins everything...plllLleaasse.
