So, I assume that all of these people complaining about FFA loot never took someone's loot ever? I mean EVER. If you claim no, you're lying.

Nope, never did - because I don't play in parties with FFA loot, easy as that.

And so you are the liar ......

As i said before.

If GGG is going to cave into the complainers and make instanced loot

It should be a simple check box at the charatcer select screen. Which can only be toggled on and off at the character select screen.

With it checked ON you now only get loot based off single player rewards which only that player can see.. You will no longer get party rewards for loot. But you will stil get party EXP .

Simple as that really.

In Chris’s recent post http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/87905 he states “We have been internally discussing community feedback on topics such as looting options and damage displays.”

Multiplayer originally had FFA loot and player responded negatively. They implemented the timer system and some players responded negatively. The devs know that players are unhappy with the loot system and are ‘discussing community feedback’ to determine which changes to implement.

Instanced loot is only one option, increased base timer is another. I personally would be very happy if the base timer was increased to 5 seconds. I agree with some of the anti-instanced arguments presented.

GGG has an excellent track record of listening to tester feedback and I have confidence that the changes they will implement will be an improvement on the current system.

Honestly. id rather them just give players instanced loot with the penalty of single player loot rewards.

Longer timers just means more unfair drops and more complaints about ninjas. Id rather them remove loot timers and give players instanced loot option. And let us FFA freaks play with no loot timers.

That way both sides are happy or at least have alot less to bitch about... And GGG can now focus on more important things in the game.

Mobutu: You just proved my point. You've added an extra step thereby slowing down gameplay. Also, what if you had to announce what you were looking for in EVERY single party you joined. That in and of itself slows down gameplay.

You clearly missed the part where i specified that being instanced loot people wont stop anymore to camp loot as they do now.
So i basically added an step while taking-out another step.
I really think this more that balances the time taken for "trading" all that asked loot.
At least, to me its obvious.

Also, if we want some social aspect in gameplay-multiplayer then this has to come at the expense of the gameplay speed. Otherwise all the party-players will be some robotic-social-mutes going only all clearing instances on and on.

What social aspect? Telling other players what you need, and making them your "trade bitch" for every group you join?

The social aspect will come from guilds as soon as GGG implements them. I'm sure they have their hands full at the moment with the server/stability issues currently.

In all honesty, I view instanced loot as the more robotic-social-mutes. It's like playing with a whole bunch of bots.

And last but not least, I'm glad that my point about progression at least seemed to hit the mark. The only reason I see instanced coming (with a penalty/longer timers/whatever) as an option, POSSIBLY. Would be because of PLAYSTYLE choice. Not because of ninja looters.

Simply because I know some people like to clear maps first, than go back and loot. That is a playstyle choice, and one in which although I do not share, I understand. I cannot say it's the "wrong" choice, although it is slower.

Cheers.

P.S. I'm glad when people can keep this discussion civil. Since although it does usually go around in circles, every now and then, a mutual agreement/understanding is made.
Half the peoples problem is they dont understand how it works. Just because it drops with your name doesn't make it yours.. Its random loot, you just get a slight advantage when your name pops up so u can get something at times.. Not just miss click everything.

Secondly, instanced loot ruins immersion.. Play solo if you want all the damn loot.. How hard is it.

Alright, you never played in a group so your experience is invalid. Congrats.

And the other half people's problem is that they only read the title of the thread and decide that's enough to understand what's going on , time to post

Why not keep the ratio of loot dropped the same (the multiplayer bonus) but divide your "loot time/drops" by the number of players? So if 6 players are in the game everyone still gets the bonus for a big party its just you only see 1/6th of the drops.

They could up the bonus a bit more for FFA to reward the cutthroat players and remove the timers or keep the timers how they are now to assist ranged. This would double as incentive for players to friend players and build relations for the increased loot (cuz friends wont hoover everything on eachother so everyone shares in the extra bonus) Or just allow FFA to become a hoarder meta game for those who enjoy it in pub games.

I have lots of gripes about diablo3. Instanced loot definitely isnt one of them. I never went, "Shit... I feel like the game world would be more robust if I could see everyone elses loot dropping."

As a matter of fact I thought, "Wow this is wonderful and a grand evolution for the genre."

It made me feel relieved when I first found out about it.
Problem being, as I've said. Is that many people complain about low drop rates. Even though 20 items.might drop, you only see 3.

Everyone has greed, I take stuff that dropped for my friends and they take stuff that dropped for me. It evens out in the end. I agree with the developers, this game isn't supposed to be fair and I personally like it that way.

It just looks to me that everyone seems very entitled because this is what they want.

You can apologize for calling me a liar in advance. I dont ninja loot. If an item without my name drops and that person didnt see it I pick it up, walk up to them and drop it at their feet.

If mobs/bosses are cleared and none of the items have my name on it I instantly move forward before the timer is up and start tanking the next pack for the party. I dont even consider thinking about hovering over the loot. Like I said, I just run to the next pack.
