I feel the current looting system almost feels like it's tailor made to grief.

Yes, and sadly, that seems to be what the devs want.
In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.
I understand it was put in to let people have a chance at drops. But the effect its having on some people mentally is getting a little wacky.

1.) Its too random. Some people get their names on rares/uniques and others get their names on town portals. Its just annoying to see peoples names on drops and not being able to pick it up. I personally don't enjoy not being able to pick up the best drop from a monster everyone help defeat. Its just simply is not fair.

2.) The constant complaining from people when they don't pick up items with their name on it in time, drives me up the wall.

Last game I was in I had some kid litteraly go all DSI(Drop Scene Investigation) on a gem drop. Asking everyone "WHO TOOK IT"?. Whispering me asking me if i knew who got it. Begging everyone to let him have it. And then DEMANDING that who ever took his drop to hand it over or get reported.. :D

Of course it was funny, but its becoming more and more pointless to have a timer on drops. It causes problems on both ends.

Please just remove it. And let the vultures feed freely.
I will only play this game solo due to the loot timers, and I will not recommend it to any friends until the timer is made either insanely long OR simply instanced loot. This system just encourages griefing via loot. I don't play games like this to fight over loot. Path of Exile is a great game except for it's terrible loot system.

People need to stop whining, about all I can say about this. If your friends complain about people taking their loot, why don't they play with their own friends instead.

A perfect example of an obtuse individual.

Wrong.... Hes actually a perfect example of a "SANE" individual.

Griefing...??

See... GGG.

This is the mental state of some players. Seeing their 'NAME' on a drop has mental effects on self entitled players. And a really annoying effect as well.

Also, its not fair that if 6 players defeat a monster and 1 unique drops with a players name on it. Everyone should get a chance to pick up items.

Please just remove loot timers.

The loot system is awesome.. Its the loot timer/name which is a drag.

dude, when you can't take a few steps back in order to see the whole picture then you're really being obtuse, nothing else.
also, observe that i didn't said he is a inSANE individual so you can make him sane.
obtuse goes with something different entirely.
I'm sure devs know what will eventually happen. The same thing that happened in diablo2 and was a REALLY BAD thing that got fixed in Diablo 3. I'm talking about auto-loot-pickup. Why would you even put a timer for loot pickup? This will with time drive people crazy, make them miss their own loot and people will stop playing with time, because seriously this is a flawed concept. If a player wanted to give loot or let them to other, he could just pick it up and drop it...
I believe the reason for implementing this kind of "stupid" loot was to bring more dynamics to the game. But seriously, if you just think about it for a second (and you need not be a genius) you will see it's completely... you know what.

Ok, took 2 steps back.

Looked at bigger picture.

Hmmm. Game would be alot more fun with NO loot timer and NO name on items.

I enjoy the hardcore, vulture style looting of D2. Its also, why i love POE.

So, call me obtuse all you want. At leaast im still sane and enjoy old skool style loot system compared to a self entitled D3 loot system some of you kids are begging for.

Just because you are used to some system (which is terribly bad, even though d2 was a successful game), it doesn't mean the system is good and should not improve. Each player having its own loot is much better in any way you look at it, moreover it gets rid of stealing bots. Think about it for a second, its really not hard to spot the advantages it brings, sweet mother of god. :D
