We are still reading this (and all other) threads by the way :)

The discussion is very interesting to read.

So it makes you happy that a lot of the players are so displeased with the looting system? Thanks man...not gonna spend any more money on this game full of thieves and ninja looters.
I'm glad D3 introduced "my loot" into this genre. Never before have I seen so many entitled ARPG casuals.

Asking for a little more time to review an item and actually have the time to loot it makes us entitled? You're an idiot.

I haven't read all of what everyone has said in this thread but my opinion is that the system is fine but the timer need to be about 2x longer. I have had many rares ninjaed away by me being a fraction of a second to late. I play as a long range caster and would just like a bit more time to get in close to make up for my range.

No loot was "ninjaed" from you as it was not yours to begin with. You were given a few seconds advantage over other players to loot the item. The idea of the timer is not to designate loot to anyone. Please read the OP.

It’s the customer’s perception that matters in this case NOT a year old post.

I still see the timer a a way to make up for the fact that some of the classes are long range and that if a item drops the people that are closer and tanks can get in and grab faster in the middle of a fight.

Or even make it a seperate loot option decided on by the Party Leader.

There are so many choices in this game that will bring in all different kinds of players. From league types, to the gem-skill system, to the passive skill tree, it's open to all types.

But to lock everyone into a very restrictive (yes, I get the irony of restrictive describing FFA) loot mode seems near-sighted.

I get the desire to seem "Cut-throat", but is using the loot system to deliver that message the best idea, or counter-productive?
