Chat Channels
I think the 6th class will be a battle mage. I mean, strength and intelligence means a tanker mage character. It would be awesome, the magic melee combat should be very unique and different though. I cant wait to see a mage with giant armor and a viceral blade, casting huge devastating spells for aoe, as well as single target. Mabye shadow oriented or could be a monster him/herself.

I think the idea of reading but not posting in a trade chat out of a town would be a better idea.
I mean, I don't want to sit in town hoping that the right thing comes along, I'd much rather be out there trying to find it on my own while I occasionally scan for it. Perhaps make it so that you can filter the trade chat so that only lines with specific types of items and/or words will show up to reduce the "noise" on the channel while you're out in the world. Please don't remove trade from outside of town, I hate sitting in town doing nothing because I want to upgrade my weapon and am having trouble killing the mobs that would drop the quality of weapon I need. |

Have you ever thought of making class specific chat channels on default?
These class chat channels could be automatically seperated by level (0-25,25-50,etc.) in such a way not to give too much away to people new to the class but allow people to figure out and answer questions around the same level/pace. I see many implications for this. Someone tries to sell me to what I think is a top tier bow for my ranger, and with a simple question to Ranger chat could give me a more accurate answer of people that are currently playing the same class. It would seem more authentic and less troll-y. You could even show their level next to their name to help with authenticity. |

Might I suggest adding a Alt + Enter feature for party chat? I'm kinda new but that's what was bothering me a bit.
To clarify: When we're in battle together, I find it much easier to just press the whisper command, then to type % in mid fight. But then you need to enter the name of the person you want to send that pm. It would be a lot easier and we could talk our language without disturbing anyone. Thanks in advance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uP_Iee-D4U4&feature=g-like&context=G2f44b18ALT1NiEQACAA

What about having different instances for world chat?
Auto-distribute players to certain world chat instances when they log in with a limit of players on each instance. Upon login we could get a message like; "Joined World[03]" .. then provide players with a command to change their world chat instance. Maybe something like this; /jworld 3 (joins World[03] /jworld 17 I think the way the world chat is set up is perfect, so to me I feel like making separate world chat instances would be the best route. It would also provide an extra dimension of community. For instance, players from a certain fan website or groups of guilds who wish to be able to talk to each other in world without spam from other players could make it a habit to always be on "world 17", or "world 29". That would also allow players to have an unwritten rule to use say, World[01] and World[02] for trading, World[03-05] for discussion, World [07-09] for pvp, and World[10] for newbie help. New characters could be set to join World[10] every time they log in until a set level, then afterwards be randomly assigned to any instance. Solves all the need for "help", "pvp", "trade", and any other wanted channels all in one simple system. A page on the site could be dedicated to telling new players which world chat instances are used for what subject. Thoughts? |

I would echo some suggestions made by others, namely -
Optional read only trade outside of common chat areas with whisper replies. Great idea, I think it would also cut down on the spam on general channels (see WoW...) as sellers would know they are missing potential customers Custom channels are very handy, especially for groups of friends Class specific channels would be great, especially for for new starters or those really tweaking a character and looking for advice My 2 cents! |
