Developer video on the new skill tree

I'll just note that the left side of the tree has had a lot of tidy up by Erik since the tree that the video showed. So it looks a bit tidier now!

..... Blood magic so far away. Well I guess new char then..

Love the new skill tree looks alot more organized, dislike how far away the lightning weapon damage node is but doesn't look too unreasonable to reach, and should beable to get into shadow's elemental stuff also since I already go deep witch,
Definetly need the + mana on kills from soul leech etc. | |
" Please remember that this is closed beta. I know it's really hard to not get attached to your character but so many things can change during beta, and once the game transitions to open beta you will have to make a new character anyway. |

" StupidFatHobbit has a point though, if people are too stupid to examine and understand the skill map, they probably aren't giving sage advice. It's just dumbing down something which we enjoy about the game, which is theorycrafting interesting and unique builds. |

Oof GGG, I am holding my heart here, both in anticipation and in fear..
Hopefully we won't dwindle down into TOG territory, and wind up with something very, very bland. Don't Touch my Sweep please GGG!

" You misunderstand him. It is not a problem of making a lvl 1 character, but a problem of not being able to play a fun build that he played. His new character will need to be something else. |

Great video.

"They haven't really changed much if you look closely. Recall that currently the starting point has two paths that lead to the class's starting nodes, and two more that allow you to access the outer ring and the center. The new skill tree has all of those. Go look. Yes there are only two passives attached to the starting point, but the other two paths that were there just branch off immediately from those first two now. There's been very very little change on that front. Last edited by Strill#1101 on Jul 19, 2012, 5:42:13 AM

Just a comment on a potential pitfall for new players with your new skill tree: If a Witch wants to reach the Templar starting point, and they've just finished the Frost Walker cluster, they have two paths leading left. One goes through some strength nodes, while the other goes near some notable strength and dex passives. But the thing I notice is that unless you're ignoring the witch starting area entirely and heading straight to templar or the center, you're always better off going past the notable passives than going through the strength nodes, since you spend fewer points and/or get more strength with the notable route.
Here's a screenshot. http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/6176/poediagram.png -------------------- And another thing I'm noticing about the new skill tree is that this is a buff for Chaos Inoculation since there's a frenzy charge node now easily available in the Shadow tree. That's another +5% cast speed. Last edited by Strill#1101 on Jul 19, 2012, 6:26:18 AM
